As I was out completing my usual Sunday morning 20 mile run I started to think about what to write here. I have both good and bad memories of 2nd and C but most importantly because of the neighborhood I have developed lifelong friends not to mention that my wife and extended family all lived on Fariston Drive. Gail and I have been married now for over 25 years and it is a true neighborhood marriage. Plus my brother David married Helene who was Gail's best freind on Fariston. It's amazing how the roots of who I am were established in that neighborhood.
It is hard to describe to my children what it was like growing up there. I still remember when I was in my teens, coming home late one night and having one of our neighbors, Al Trager, who was leaving to go to work yell at me as if he was my parent (where were you, who were you with, do your parents know you are out this late, etc...). This can never occur in suburbia but happened all the time in our little neighborhood. I can still envision my in laws and all their neighbors sitting out on the steps every night in the summertime chatting the night away. And I will never forget getting arrested with Lee Konell one Saturday afternoon while we were playing football in the back of Foxhill. Nor have I had a black and white shake as good as the one's I had at Pauline and Eddies.
Well I am glad that Gail now has me hooked on this sight as it is good to catch up with individuals that I haven't seen in many (too many) years.
Looking forward to the reunion for which I am giving up my Boston Marathon weekend.
