I graduated from Phila University in 1980 as a Finance Major. I've been in the Financial and Insurance Services business since that time. I specialize in Group Benefits along with Personal Insurance & Investment Planning.
My wife Lori & I have been married since 1985 & we live in Dresher, PA. My daughter Danielle started her Freshman year at University of New Haven this fall. I have another daughter age 16 and a son age 11.
My involvement in the community hasn't changed much since 1980. I continue to be involved in sports as a player including 2 Softball leagues and Basketball. My father Harvey, just like the little league baseball games continues to watch me play. My life as been committed to Bnai Brith, in which a lot of members have come from the old neighborhhod over the years.
In fact I started a basketball league back in 1981 along with Bruce Lefkoe and Steve Freeeman . Al Russ and myself continue to play today. Other players from 2nd & C over the years include Alan Roth, Jeff Factor, Stu Steinberg, Steve Shain, Robert Shoemaker and Alan Baroff. Steve Matt might even remember being Vice President of our lodge in 1985.
All I can think of of is sports on 64th ave. Our street was behind the times with girls and partying, but we had to break records on the amount of time playing different sports. On a typical fall Sunday, the Felts, Weisses, Traubs, Baroffs, Sutow, Rosenberg, Shains, Levins, etc played football before the Eagles game, halftime for 20 minutes, after the game ended and usually to the point where it was so dark out we were force to go in. Steve Shain & I would play Basketball in the snow until our hands were frozen. If anybody remembers the TV show Time Tunnel: Barry Rosenberg, myself and Steve Shain would always act out the shows on my front lawn. We always played Hockey on roller skates with a ball on the street & most cars had dents. We always had the smooth skaters with the Levins. We had our Dave Shultz type with Ronnie Shain, Neil Baroff & Kevin Sutow. We had our Bernie Parent type with Al Baroff with those big foam goalie pads. He looked good but could't stop
my Rick Mcleish type wrist shot. I can on forever and I wish my own 3 kids could have been raised in this kind of neiborhood.
I used run home for lunch everyday so I could play basketball. Usually I played against Bruce Lefkoe at the Feinman or Traub basketball gymnasium [a rim hanging on the wall in the back of my house]. When I was about 9 yrs old, my mother made me take Piano lessons & a lesson conflicted with my basketball game.
I told the piano teacher "Go to ?ell" because nothing would interfare with basketball. Needless to say, my mother never let me touch the piano again.
