Do you remember: The weeping willow trees in the south playground, the old, brown beanbag boards at recess, stomping on packages of peanut butter crackers and squeezing the crumbs into our mouths (that was considered a treat?), playing 7-up during indoor recess, getting the coveted job of messenger and getting to carry papers to each classroom in a wire basket, walking to Lowell Elementary for sewing class, making oatmeal in Mrs. Miller's Home Ec class, singing "It's a big, wide, wonderful world" in assembly, making Christmas cards, Christmas decorations, Christmas gifts, and learning Christmas carols for the Christmas show and then going off to Hebrew school, 8th grade graduation dance at the Olney rec, sucking on lemons at the bazaar, buying wax lips at Pearson's, the merry-go-round at Sturgis playground that you jumped on once you got it started, Bond bread, milk, Charles Chips, Frank's Beverages, the pharmacy and the deli all making deliveries to our doors, the Whip, and getting a piece of Bazooka at the end of the ride...I could go on and on. It was a wonderful life.
