I think of Michael often with such fond memories. We were best friends in grades 1-3. We even left home together to "runaway". We would go to the woods behind Claremont, which became the Apt's. We remained friends over the years, through Northeast and beyond. Our families have some history together too since our fathers knew each other before 2 and C. I always remember coming over to your house with lots of sawdust in the garage. When Michael would come over mine, he would always greet my dad with a big "Hi Tiny". Our nicknames continue, Gunda and Momma, but most of all his spirit is shining brightly in all who had the privilege to know him. He is in our hearts and minds with cherished memories so vivid and clear. I see Ilene's brother frequently and think of her often as well. They were inseperable and I miss them both.
I want to thank you all for sharing your precious memories of Michael with me. It has meant so much knowing that his friends have kept his memories alive and continued to share them with others.
I may live in Arizona but I would always love to hear from you.
P.S. I have downloaded some new pictures of Michael's Bar Mitzvah. If anyone knows names please let me know and I will add to the picture.
Michael was indeed a special person, filled with enormous spirit and lived each day to the fullest. I have many great memories of Michael and the Romanoff clan as a whole since I lived next door..
Allison - there are many days I look book and miss Michael; I can remember your Mom calling the cops on us when we would jump the iron fence back and forth between our front yards..!!
Allison Your little brother practically lived at my house. Michael and my brother were extremely close and they looked more like brothers than Dean and I did. Michael was special to me and my entire family . I hope all is well with you. Warmest regards Jay I Weintraub
I still can see Michael in his orange Datsun driving down the driveway to Dean's house. He will always remain in my heart. Friendships and memories from 2nd & cheltenham will live on forever.
Allison, There is not a time when I think back about the old days, and Michael doesn't come to my thoughts. I think that he touched all of us and he will live in our hearts forever. Cindy
In my mind Micheal will always be remebered as kind and considerate to us younger guys. I remeber one time he gave me a ride around the neighborhood, my first ride in a sports car. His accident occured a few days after he gave me the ride, I was devistated. As I read the story in the newspaper tears ran down my face. I kept the newspaper article. If anyone is interested in the article, you can go to my web site at www.steveedelman.com, click on the picture twice to get it into its own frame, then right click and save it to your computer. Micheal was an outstanding person in life as in eternity.
i knew michael well and loved him, i remember one funny story, probably not appropriate to post, but heh what the heck, i grew up in the 60's, i was in michael's z car, we were doing something that we should not have been doing, he rolled through a stop sign, a cheltenham police officer put on his lights and pulled him over, before that michael immediately began eating something that wasn't food, and he very casually got out of the car, spitting the whole time, and talked like an adult to the officer, he talked his way out of a ticket, michael was a good guy, actually related to me through marriages of distant cousins, he will be missed, his parents were deeply saddened by his loss, the youngest child, in his honor we should all do our best every day to cherish life, you are limited in years on this earth, make the most of them while you are here- eb!
Last nite I was looking thru Paul L's pictures and realized without seeing the names that I recognized Michael right away. I haven't seen a picture of him for maybe 30 some years. I shared the step with Dean and therefore, I shared it with Michael as well. I loved him and his car. What is a 260z? I always told him that one day I would get a z of my own and when I graduated PSU in 1981, I bought one,a blue and silver 280z. Honestly to this day, whenever I see any Z car, and there are not too many around...a couple here and there and 300's, I ALWAYS think of him. I was a couple of years younger than him and Dean, but I sure looked up to them both..I used to call them my adopted brothers.. On a funny note...Dean shared a lawn with the Langendorfs, and ALWAYS-before they had cars, they had bikes.....and they would ALWAYS ride down Marvins lawn-especially when he was outside sitting on the step...It always pissed Marvin off! Miss him too. wendi
