we joked and caled you peg leg. You faced considerable challenges after the bowling accident that left one leg shorter than the other. You were a leader and great supporter of Sigma Alpha Rho- although I didn't enjoy the meetings in your bedroom very much. Everyone remembers your Mustang. you hold a special place in everyones heart that knew you.
Glen and I lived quite close and I remember him and his family so well. My closest friend was Lewis Berkowitz, and his oldest brother Sheldon (great guy, too) married Glen's sister Rona. I recall the day Lewis insisted Glen try to ride a bicycle, despitethe leg brace that was deterring him. Glen finally relented, jumped on the Schwinn "Orange Crate"...the best bike of the day, and rode off with a big smile on his face. That didn't last too long because Glen upgraded to the Mustang Mach V...with the giant tool box in the back seat! Glen was a good friend and did devote a lot of time to the Sigma Chapter of SAR fraternity...Glen's mom and mine were friends and often spoke while hanging laundry on the back-drive clotheslines...where our homes faced each other....I think of Glenn fondly whenever I see a vintage Mustang...
There isn't to many weeks that go by that something doesn't remind me of Glenn. We were friends, enjoyed SAR together, double dated for years in that Green loud Mustang then in a beautiful silver Tran Am and were partners in business before almost anyone knew what business was. We were DJ's. He spun....I talked. Glenn loved life and loved Beth and loved American Muscle Cars. Glenn never let his disability become an inability issue...NEVER! He never felt different and was always part of the happenings. He was good at lots of things including yelling at his mom, but most of all Glenn knew how to be a good friend to all. He is surely missed.
Glenn was a great guy! I remember when some of the guys from A and Champlost were giving us a hard time and called us out. A few of the dad's ( my father, I think Mr. Zove and maybe one other) went to Finletter to accompany me, my bro Gary, a few others and Glenn. He stood there in the schoolyard at Finletter when a "representative" from A and C came up and nervously told Glenn they were going yo kick our asses. Glenn looked at the kid and firmly, yet calmly said: "get the shit out of your mouth already". The kid turned and ran. I don't know what he said to the others, but they ran too". My father turned to me and said: "Bru, who is that kid. I replied to which he commented, "he's some kid; he's got real balls!
Glenn & I were good friends during our days in the neighborhood. He was sooo stubborn and so was I. That's probably why we were good friends. I never forget that day that Glenn and my brother Michael were arguing about Glenn's Mustang. My brother was asking him if the car was an automatic or stick shift, and Glenn kept saying it was a Turbo Hydromatic. My brother kept saying stick or automatic and Glenn kept saying Turbo Hydromatic. Finally my brother said, "does it have a clutch?" And Glenn replied, "no". And my brother said, "well, then it's an automatic!. I think it was the only argument Glenn ever lost.
I also remember the day, I went with Glenn to apply for a job at a gas station. While filling out the application, he gets to the section that asks, Handicaps? and he checks off NO. He never thought of himself as being handicapped. What a wonderful spirit. I still miss him, I always will.
glenn was a good guy, in spite of his disability, you would never know it, it wasn't a disability to him, every time i see a nice mustang go buy i think of him, he was so so proud of that car, i remember the SAR days and the sound of that car, what a great guy- he surely will missed at the reunion- eb!
Glenn was the big brother that I never had. He, Lewis (Berkowitz) & I were like the 3 Musketeers growing up on EWPD.
He was a truly remarkable person. No one saw Glenn as disabled because he never saw himself that way. Nothing ever held him back. I miss him & his wonderful friendship & remember him, especially on February 28th (except on Leap Year, February 29th) - his birthday!
