Doug was a very special boy. One who had it all but never quite believed it. I wish he could have fulfilled his potential. I will never forget him.

Doug was a true friend from our days in grade school through High School. We ran in the same crowd, played the same sports, and spent lots of time together in recreation away from school and other friends. He was a bright student, a gifted athlete, and a great person to emulate. I still miss him and still visit his final resting place and leave color there in honor of our friendship. He changed my life for good. For those that would like to visit and pay respects: Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery 2300 W. Van Buran St., Phoenix (I-17 and Van Buran St.) Section 57 North Row 6 Grave 1.

I wasn't really a friend of Doug's. He was with the popular kids and I wasn't but his headstone is close to my grandma's so I always leave flowers for him. It never looks like anyone visits. It's a shame, his life mattered.

Bless you, Debbie, for decorating the grave of a classmate. Yes, we all had our own circle of friends in high school. But you honor what we had in common and the tragedy of his early loss. I think it would be lovely if we could post a picture of his headstone on this site.

Well said, Susan. And I thank you, too, Debbie. Doug and his brother.Lu were good friends. They helped me build my radio for science freshman year, and I certainly needed that help! I never knew where Doug's grave was and would like to visit it sometime when I'm in Phoenix.

They say that the "Good Die Young". I have first hand knowledge of this, and I have to agree. "Rest in Peace" my friend. S.C.

I just want to share a story about Doug. He had such a kind heart and showed it to me one day when I really needed a friend. I was driving my Dad's truck one day when one of his two gas tanks ran out of gas. If you don't change it over in time you stall it out. Well, that is what happened and knowing that my dad was very strict and not at all understanding about such things I was terrifed to call for help, besides I had just wrecked my mom's VW. (so much for my driving skills) As I sat crying in front seat Doug drove by and turned around and stopped. He jumped in the front seat and talked me to me for almost an hour. My tears stopped and we even laughed a bit and I no longer wanted to jump off the nearest bridge. With a flip of the switch the truck was running again and he followed me home to make sure I got there. I never forgot that act of kindness. RIP my friend.

When Doug and I were in 7th grade we did not like the food in the cafeteria. So we would get on his bicycle me on the handle bars and ride to his house where Doug would try to make lunch. I can remember like it was yesterday Mrs Creed telling Doug not to come home during lunch when no one was there.
Well that was like saying its ok just don't get caught. So Doug would pull the bologna from the refrigerator and commence frying it in a pan. When the process was complete we would begin eating our fried bologna sandwiches and chips.
Well that lasted for awhile until Luther (Doug's older brother) came home early one day from school and told on us. Hence that was the end of our nutritious and balanced diet made by Doug Creed himself..

This Reunion and the website has reacquainted friends sharing stories and experiences with each other - so many of those memories have involved friends lost and on 10/22/14 Steve Combs and Dan Morris visited Doug at his final resting place.
