In Memory

Wade Breuer

Wade Breuer

I learned of Wade Breuer's death a few days ago.  I was never a close friend, but I enjoyed very much seeing him at class reunions.  Some of you have shared your vivid memories on the class website.  We will be forever graced by Wade's presence in our lives and are deeply saddened by his passing after a courageous struggle against cancer.  Below are what two of you said.

Sherri Reid shares her memories of Wade. "Wade and I became friends in Carmel late 60's while he lived here and painted with John Cunningham.  We married in 1970 in the Carmel Mission and had our reception at the Del Monte Lodge in Pebble Beach.  Those were the days.  We lived on the 'Riley Ranch' (across from Point Lobos State Park) where we had our horses and beautiful Borzoi dogs and Blueberry our orange tabby, and Wade painted large canvases propped up on the corral fence in the back yard. Wonderful memories of a very fortunate period for us in time and place.  Many evenings Wade would swim in China Cove across the street or we would walk through the beautiful forests and cypress groves and marvel at nature and the wildlife.  He created a wonderful garden around our little ranch house and continued with his love of gardening all the rest of his life.  He was an artist, creative, in many aspects of his life, not just on canvas.  Even though we did not stay married we remained best of friends.  Staying in touch all through the years including his and Lam's visits down here and my going up there to Piedmont and Napa, we had a special bond.  Maybe like sister and brother.  I wasn't able to make the trip to Napa last couple years but we visited by phone weekly (usually more) and then, those last months, daily.  So sad to lose someone before it's time.  He didn't want to go and shouldn't have had to.  Bless his heart he gave it all a valiant effort . . ."

Joan Henley writes, "It was with great sadness that I learned of Wade's passing from his wife, Lam, who called me on the very day, Sunday, June 14, in the morning.  I am still in disbelief even though I have witnessed all this time signs of his illness but more importantly his valiant efforts with his treatments.  We have been in touch all along the way.  Wade has been my very good friend and buddy for 22 plus years. I will miss him greatly although his Spirit is forever present . . ."

            We will all miss Wade.

Thank Jeff ,

This is such an honoring of a man I only knew as a  shy classmate. Clearly he evolved into

a very caring and conscious man. Thank you for sharing your knowing of Wade.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Wade's passing from his wife, Lam, who called me on the very day, Sun. 6/14 am.
I am still in disbelief even tho/ I have witnessed all this time signs of his illness but more importantly his valiant efforts with his treatments. We have been in touch all along the way. Wade has been my very good friend and buddy for 22 plus years. I will miss him greatly although his Spirit is forever present. I am writing a tribute to Wade which will be forthcoming. Thank you Jeff, Sally, and Denys for honoring him.

What a guy Wade was....

I didn't know him very well in high school but in the last few years I'd become better aquainted with him and his wife Lam.

He was a brilliant craftsman, contractor, architect and designer, and the home he built in Napa is creative and so interesting. Very Zen. I wish I had a photo to attach. Joan, do you have one?

As you may or may not know he had a long battle with cancer and fought it brilliantly, never giving up.

He'll be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

RIP Dear Wade.

Miscellaneous photos that I grabbed from Wade's Facebook Page!

The woman in the photos is his wife Lam and you'll also see some images of his home and surroundings in Napa where he built his dream home.

Great Sharon....you found some of the best photos of Wade and Lam ' s beautifully self designed home and tea house! Also wonderful to see Wade on one of his many daily walks up the hill surrounded by the gorgeous country side! And his artistically crafted details on both homes. Lam looks beautiful as always. Thank you Sharon! Do you see the "visiting" fox ? :)

Wade was intending to join the PHS 1962 website and publish the details of his life in his Profile, but he ran out of time.

The two links below are written by Langdon Wade Breuer. They describe his life and are worth reading.   (copy and paste them in to your browser in they are not active)

This link describes some of his post PHS highlights:  http://www.langdonwade.com/pages/about.htm

You can view his extensive art work on this one:       http://www.langdonwade.com/

And just for fun this is a Rigma photo that he liked from 1961. Wade is front and center with his monkey. The other guys are from 1963.

Hi All. Hi Joan!  Wanted to add to your posts in memory of Wade.  Wade and I became friends in Carmel late 60's while he lived here and painted with John Cunningham. Bless his heart he gave it all a valiant effort.  Lived such an interesting life and enjoyed living.  I'm glad to have the memories we shared.
