I used to pal around with Karl for several years in the early sixties. We had many things in common back then. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. I'm afraid he passed in a auto accident back in the late sixties. Another tragic loss I'm sorry to say. I'll remember him.

I should have entered this comment a long time ago. Sorry for the delay.

Karl was, without a doubt, the first of our classmates to leave us. In Dec. of 1966, while attending college in Santa Monica Ca., he was killed in an auto accident. Karl was very close to me and my immediate family and I will always miss hearing his laughter and seeing his big smiles. He seemed to do that a lot. I will also miss going to his aunts house in Stinson Beach and partying on the sand with all of our other friends.

Karl was a great guy and I'm sure he has been missed by many.

I had some wonderful experiences with Karl around the 7th grade.  He had one of the first motorized model airplanes which he flew on the football field. The plane was controlled by two wires about 50' long. Once the small gas engine was started I would hold the plane until Karl ran 50' to the control wires. Once he had the wires I would let go, and the plane would take off. Karl would guide the plane through various tricks and then once it was out of gas he gently landed it on the turf. I was fascinated with his ability controlling his small model airplane. I can also remember keeping him company on his paper route. We would compete to see how accurate we could through the paper. I thought it was cool to wear the paper boy pack and when I joined him on his route I would always ask him if I could carry it for part of the route. He always allowed me to help. I always thought how much fun it was to do a paper route without having to show up everyday. Karl and I drifted apart during high school, but to this day I treasure the trails he led me down, and his kind spirit. He knew how to be a Mench. Thank you Karl..Roger
