For Mary Fowler, Madeline Becker, and Gris Wilson, I'm not sure if you remember, but as the two shortest boys in our St. Leo's class, Russ and I always got stuck having to dance with the dance instructor - not cool for an 11 or 12 year old boy.  Towards the end of our eighth grade year Russ and I got into a fight.  One day we got into an argument.  I postponed the fight for a day, because I had to visit my future new high school, Piedmont High after school.  I knew I would be in deep trouble if I missed my PHS appointment, because I had to stay after school for fighting.  The next day, the nuns looked out over the scoolyard during lunch break, and no students were in the yard!  (They were all in the side ally to watch Russ and Dave fight.)  Anyway, the nuns quickly recovered, broke up the fight, put Russ and Dave in detention, and Russ and Dave had one of those good male bonding moments.

Despite attending St. Leos + PHS together I can't say that I ever had the opportunity to share a bonding moment with Russ. I only have memories of him tripping me in class,  or wanting to fight me on the playground. Rest in peace Russ and fellow StL classmate Mike Foudy. Reunion greetings to all my other St Leo's alums!
