VIKI CEBERS OBITUARY

Viki Cebers
December 8, 1947 - April 30, 2023

Viki Cebers passed away on April 30, 2023, in Walnut Creek after courageously battling a lifetime of health issues.

Viki was born December 8, 1947, in San Francisco to Donna Donald and was adopted and raised by Irma Sue and Wilfred Schlieman in Piedmont, California. She attended Piedmont schools, where she met and later married her high-school sweetheart and love of her life, Hank Cebers, Jr. They enjoyed 32 happy years together before Hank's passing in 2000.

Viki lived for her family and was always looking forward to the next vacation to Graeagle, where she loved seeing everyone together, reading on the porch, working on puzzles and playing cards.
Her love for her family fueled her fierce determination and will to live despite her extraordinary health challenges. Her no-nonsense attitude and unique sense of humor helped her fight through incredible physical pain and beat medical odds countless times.

Viki is survived by her three devoted daughters, Mindy Smyth (Michael), Suzy Sims (Josh), and Samantha (fiancé, Aaron); five loving grandchildren, Braden, Parker, Andrew, Jenna, and Carly; her beloved brother, Robert Schlieman (Bonnie), her new-found sister, Moire Donald (Jeff), two faithful sisters-in-law, Ilze Birznieks (Janis) and Sandra Forderer (Curt), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
Viki is remembered for her selfless contributions to the community. Together with Hank, they were very involved in the Piedmont community, volunteering their time and talents to the Piedmont schools, the Piedmont Community Church, the Campfire Girls and Camp Augusta. Viki was also very active with the fundraising branches at Children's Hospital Oakland, both as a member of the Teak branch for more than 40 years and as the office manager at the branch headquarters until she retired in 2017. Through her service and years growing up and then raising her family in Piedmont, Viki built life-long friendships that kept her energized and inspired her wit.

Friends and family will celebrate Viki's life on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 11am at Piedmont Community Church. In remembrance of Viki's life, please direct any charitable donations to: Children's Hospital Branches, Inc., 5700 Martin Luther King Jr. Way T-2, Oakland, CA 94609. Please note "in honor of Viki" on your check.
