Ed Hass was a great friend and a really good guy. The last time I saw him was the day he passed away. I was driving down to LA with my girlfriend to attend a college football game. We stopped at UCSB to see Ed. We met his girlfriend, had a few beers and just hung out. Life was going great for him. He loved UCSB, the engineering program he was in and sailing. We crashed at his apartment that night. The next morning my girlfriend and I got up and prepared to finish our journey to LA. As we left, Ed was getting his sailboat ready to take out with his girlfriend. Later that day, Ed had his sailing accident. It’s sad he died so early in his life but he was doing something he loved.
