I really did not know Anne well ...but I must confess a mild crush on her. Anne seemed very bright, and intriguingly mysterious (to a shy seventeen year old boy...). More importantly, Anne was an incredible free hand artist, and could draw the human form perfectly. We must have had art classes toegether as I recall her fashion drawings like you'd see in the newspaper ads for high end stores. I think she went on to Mills College...but I could be way off the mark. Perhaps a PHS classmate that knew Anne...and reading this, could enlighten us.
Anne had a very creative mind. We would see a dress or skirt, that she had to have, at a store, probably Little Daisy? We would go to Home Fabrics, get the material and she would spend the evening sewing a copy cat version, without a pattern, on the floor of her bedroom. Does anyone remember the dog "droppings" on the fire hydrant in the play Westside Story? She did all the design and directed the painting of the screen sets. I don't recall that any facility ever saw them. When she came home with her appendix in a jar, her dad, Horace or Ace, as she called him, threw them out and she didn't speak to him for quite awhile. I recall she went to California College for the Arts and Craft or at least took college classes there. We kept in touch for a few years then drifted off in different directions. She was a jewel.
