It's hard to express my incredible sadness in the loss of my dear friend, Jan. Moving to Denver 6 yrs. ago was such a wonderful opportunity for us to be closer. We spoke via phone regularly and kept in touch all those months when Barry was ill. She was such a huge support to me! Last spring Jan called to let me know that her husband, Fran had been diagnosed with cancer and was starting treatment. Although treatment was hard, the family was hopeful. The last time I spoke with Jan was in June to let me know that Fran had passed away. According to their daughter, Jan had a stoke 3 weeks later and passed away. Unfortunately, Carie did not have my contact info at that time and I had no idea about Jan's passing until last weekend. Carie was able to retrieve my contact information on a card I had sent and called me. Needless to say, I was shocked, although I had been very worried that something was terribly wrong when I tried several times and couldn't reach Jan via phone.
Understandably, losing both parents in such a short amount of time was devastating for Carie and she continues to grieve their loss. They were a very close and loving family. Carie and I have made arrangements to stay in touch. In the meantime, for those of you wanting to send a card, see her contact info below:
I know she would appreciate hearing from her mom's classmates!
Sending a huge thank you to Paul Douglas for posting Jan's obituary! Jan was a close friend of Paul's and I know it was hard to share. We have lost so many wonderful classmates but we also have many happy memories. Hang unto those memories, my friends!
