Donnie Hosman was a dear friend for more years than I can remember [especially at my age]. We grew up together as kids, I knew his family well--especially all his sisters--loved his Mom and his Dad, Fritz. We went through tough times together in the loss of his Dad and made it through school together. We reconnected years later through church. I loved him as a dear friend. I miss him already. My condolences to Don's family on the loss of their husband, father, and grandfather.  Don was a good friend of mine growing up in Pierre.  I joined the South Dakota National Guard along with Don, Eldon LaFave, Bob Wever and others while still in high school.   Eldon, Bob, Don and I left Pierre, ten or twelve days after graduation to complete our six months of Army training at Ft. Ord, California.  We took a bus to Omaha, and then a cross country train trip to California.  When we arrived at our basic training unit, I was almost scared to death.  It was nice to have other 18 year old kids like Don, Eldon and Bob to share the frightening experience with.  We also shared many, many laughs together.  So sad to lose a good friend like Donnie.  Rest in peace.

I remember the very early years playing with Donnie and his siblings (4-5yr old). Hours were spent making elaborate dirt race tracks for his extensive tiny plastic car collection.  He was a good sharer...I was not and was often barred from the races.  In later years I remember the wonderful service from the Texaco station managed/?owned? by Donnies Dad.  Attendants swept out the car and washed the windows when gas was purchased there. Rest in Peace Donald. Deepest Sympathy to Don's family.  Donna Hendel

Sending thoughts and prayers to Donnie Hosman's family at this very sad time.  It's difficult to lose another classmate.  I have such pleasant memories of Donnie, a wonderful classmate who always made me smile.  Thank you to John Stone, Paul Douglas and Donna Hendel for sharing your heartfelt messages with special memories of Donnie.  It is comforting to know that Donnie had such kind and thoughtful friends all these years.  He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.  Rest in peace, dear Donnie!
