Went to Surry Community College for 1 yr. Transferred to UNC-G for 1 yr. My stepfather would not stop harrassing me so I had to quit & get away. I moved away to Raleigh & got a job in a bank where I quickly moved up the ladder. Left there to work for a podiatrist in the medical field. The podiatrist was actually a client of mine from the bank who offerred me the job. My main interest was always for a medical career. I loved Raleigh!!! Had some of my best memories there. Left Raleigh in 1989 due to a breakup & moved to Winston-Salem. Worked for 2 banks there & did some modeling for the mall. In 1991 I moved to Virginia Beach, VA which was where my boyfriend at the time was stationed. He was an aviation fuel Chief in the Navy who did some recruiting work in Mount Airy. This was how we met. We hung together & got engaged for 7 yrs b4 I had to leave him. Oh by the way - I began working for Neurosurgical Specialists, Inc in 1993 & did every job there was except management (didn't want that one!) within that 12 yr period. It was & still is the largest such practice in the area. I left there in 2005 to take some online courses & try to work from home. Completed the courses but do not like working at home. I need the interaction w/ people. So I took a position with Virginia Oncology Associates, Inc (subsidiary of US Oncology, Inc) as a data entry coordinator III in August 2005. I had to take a medical leave in June 2007 due to a rotator cuff tear & the necessary surgery. The recovery period for this is sooooo long they had to let me go (all on good terms thank the Lord b/c I thought I'd get a bad reference from them but it was just the opposite-they actually wanted me back if I wished to return. So I have been a domestic engineer now for a little over 2 yrs. I'll probably take on a fun part-time job in the near future.
To back up a bit, I met my soulmate & husband finally in April 1999. It only took me 34 yrs!!!AAAGGHH. We got married August 26,2000. His name is Billy Peterson & he is a senior power engineer for Northrup Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding (designs the new aircraft carriers) & he is a musician who loves to play the electric guitar (he was in a country & western band for over ten years but his & my favorite is playing the blues.) He also loves to build guitar amplifiers as a hobby.
My favorite hobbies are singing, reading, music, basketball (which I've mostly had to give up due to rheumatoid arthritis), gardening, obviously playing with my babies (the 4 cats), & just about anything outdoors.
As of 12-3-13 my household is down to just me and my cat Lucky. I lost my husband suddenly last year on 6-30-12 to a "widow maker" heart attack. He was only 50. We had just got on the beach in the Outer Banks & he & his brother went in for a dip. It happened as he was coming out of the water. We were so connected as a couple that while he was in the water I was in a chair on the beach talking to my sister-in-law Tini & I just got this feeling something was wrong. I turned around to look for Billy who was coming in & I said to her that it worries me when he goes out that far. We both stood up to look and the rest is history. It has been the single most hardest time of my entire life but I am slowly beginning to come around. God's mercy & saving grace & the support of family & friends are the reason I made it thru. Losing a husband and 2 of my cats (babies) in one year was just too painful for words but by God's grace I have made it.
