Loved Clementon! Posted Friday, April 3, 2009 04:27 PM I have so many fond memories of living in Clementon 1. Walking home from the lake on the railroad tracks, trying to see how long you could stay on the rail without falling. 2. Making out at the Clementon Theatre with some boy who you didn't come with. Remember, one of their friends would come over and say, "So and So wants the "sit" with you". You got up and moved to where so and so was sitting and then made out all through the movie -- lol 3. Eating burgers at the triangle. 4. Buying Rock Candy (pure sugar) from the pharmacist 5. Buying those God Awful gym uniforms at Frish's 6. Hanging out with the upper classmen at my mothers restaurant (the Hacienda) -- funny I ended up living in Mexicco 7. Sledding down Signal hil with Ginger Lederer and Sue Klotz 8. Getting my hair permed at Cut & Curl. 9. CLEMENTON PARK 10 Friday night all you could eat Shrimp at Eddie Meyer's Palm Inn 11. Good meals at the Mill Creek Diner 12. Pepsi Cola day at the park. 13. Premier Toyland at Christmas 14. Hitchhiking to the Berlin Auction and spendng the day eating those hot soft pretzels and reading comic books Okay -- there's a zillion more -- but its your turn! If you are lucky enough to live in Mexico, you're lucky enough! |

RE: Loved Clementon! Posted Monday, April 6, 2009 10:14 AM For such a small town there was sure a lot of things to do! In the summer, my best friend and I would ride our bikes from Pine Hill to Clementon...back in the days when it was safe to do that. I remember going into one store (forget the name) where we bought our first tubes of lipstick when we were about 12 years old....hillarious! It was this ugly shade of bright pink which we proceeded to cake on our lips until we looked like clowns but we thought we were beautiful. Oh those God awful gym suits we were made to wear....I hated those things and hated going to Frisch's to buy them!! I'd still like to know who designed them. Going to Clementon park was always a treat and something I lived for in the summer. Besides living to go to Clementon Park, I used to enjoy going to the Sweet Shoppe. Of course the movies was ususally the highlight of Friday nights.....never really did watch too many movies but back then, who really did! ;-) I remember going ice skating behind my girlfriend Kathy's house and I think it was silver lake....not quite sure though. It was near Grant's because I remember walking from her house to Grant's. Speaking of which, I spent a lot of time and allowance money at Grant's. I loved to see how the candy counter was decorated for each season/holiday. Emma Reichmann was the candy lady and she always had beautiful displays....I ended up marrying her son! There are so many fond memories...it would be nice to travel back in time if just for a day and relive some of those time. Elizabeth |

RE: Loved Clementon! Posted Monday, April 6, 2009 12:57 PM Clementon holds so many fond memories, for me. First and foremost, is the Park. When I was very little and living in Camden, my parents used to take us kids there over the summer. Once. We thought we had died and gone to Heaven! When we moved to Lindenwold......to know that we would be living close enough, to actually go there whenever we wanted...was surreal, to us kids. And I must say, the novelty never wore off. A close second...Friday nights at the movie theater. How funny we all were. Pay to see a movie (75 cents) and then sit there and make out. Sometimes, with more than one guy, throughout the night..ha ha! It was like musical chairs. Barb, I had forgotten about how friends would approach you at the movies........ and say that someone wanted to sit with you. And we would let them! Hilarious. Fun memories. Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets. >^..^< |

RE: Loved Clementon! Posted Sunday, June 7, 2009 10:53 PM Ha Ha! Yes, Joe....I am the female, Bob Barker. Good that your cats are neutered. Yay! >^..^< Well, from what I remember.... regarding kssing at the movies.....the guys were the ones, approaching the girls. Aside from asking a buddy, to ask..... if they could sit with us.. They themselves, would inch closer to us....row by row...seat by seat...until finally, they were directly behind us, kicking our seat. I guess that was to see if they were welcome, or not. If they got the signal, that they were ....they would actually move to the same row, we were in. Until finally, they were sitting next to us. I can imagine, now...how hard it must have been, for the guys to do that. Rejection is hard at any age, but at that age...it's huge. The games we played..all for a kiss. Hilarious.

RE: Loved Clementon! Posted Monday, June 8, 2009 02:45 PM THis is a funny thread -- come on -- you all did it. I remember sitting with Two girlfriends and someone would tap me on the shoulder and say, "Err, could you move to another seat so "______" can sit here,". From the other side someone would be taking out the other one that wasn't the "chosen one". After clearing it with our friend, the two of us would go find other seats until it was our turn. I was always afraid I wouldn't get chosen! Sometimes I would go home with hickies all over my neck, lips bruised enough to pass for Angelina Jolie's and not know the guy I'd been swapping spit with. For me, not one of those nights led to anything -- no future dates or anything -- LOL -- must have been a bad kisser!
