Life Since High School

I moved to San Francisco, California in the mid 1970's and worked in sales for various computer companies. I did that for about 20 years and then got the bright idea that I wanted to retire before I turned 50 and move to Mexico. Now we live in a little Mexican village about 30 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. The town has about 2000 residents and own and run a fabulous little B&B right on the beach

I get to California at least every summer to see friends but always look forward to coming home to my adopted country.

Haven't been to NJ since my brother Mike died in a house fire in 1985. My parents moved to California at that time and so there wasn't much calling me back there.

I love to cook, dance and I spend a lot of time writing.

I was sorry I missed the last reunion -- I just couldn't justify the 6 hour flight for lunch -- but I was definitely there in spirit. Now that I'm reconnecting with all of you again I might just show up at the next one. I was afraid if I went to the last one I wouldn't remember anyone and no one would remember me.

High School Memories:

I loved high school but it was so long ago I can hardly remember even what the building looked like. I loved the Friday night dances we used to go to and summers at the lake more than school, though. I looked at the yearbook a while back -- I definitely regret my teased up hairdo!

Does anyone remember the hangout near the school called the Hacienda that my mom and dad owned? We were a little young for that place (maybe 9th grade) but lots of the "upper classmen" hung out there. My parents have both passed on but they knew alot of the students from class of 1964-67

Somehow what I remember is the way things smelled (that's odd!). I remember the girls locker room being overwhelmed by girls spraying Tabu, Ambush and other equally sweet smelling colognes. Every boy smelled like Hai Karate, English Leather or Brut (because we bought it for them!)

The classrooms smelled like chalk and Mrs Rothermel's classroom smelled like cinnamon

I remember the smell of the french fries at Clementon Park up by the Pavillion and the Mac & Cheese in the cafeteria. Funny, I don't think I associate any other part of my life with smells.

I remember having to run the track in gym class (we all complained). And those ugly gym suits.

I remember in our senior year when everyone started getting cars. We would all meet up at McDonalds or other hamburger joints and then follow each other around until we ran out of gas or it was time to go home.

I remember once in 7th grade wearing one seamed and one unseamed stocking to school by accident and all the senior girls following me around and laughing until I took them off and threw them away in the ladies room (unheard of going bare legged in those days -- so I still got teased)

I loved Mr. Schwartz . The Beatles were popular when I was in 7th grade and he told us that if anyone got a beatle haircut they would have detention for a month. Within a week almost everyone in our class had the haircut and no one got detention.

I loved the pep rallies and painting the car with poster paint before each football game.

I wish there was an easy way we could all get together again -- I've had a wonderful life and hope the same is true for all of you. But there's a lot more to go!!!!

Hi Maralee it's Barbara Flanigan. I often wondered where you and James ended up. I moved to San Francisco early 70s and have lived in Mexico for the past 16 years. My parents and brother Mike have all passed on and it seems so odd to have no immediate family. But I have a great life and am in good health so I guess I'm lucky. Hope you are well
