What do you still regret to this day? Posted Monday, April 6, 2009 07:03 PM We all have a little something we did while in high school that still brings up a feeling of shame -- a cruelty to another student, disobeying a teacher just for the fun of it... For me it was using my "sense of humor" to entertain my friends at the expense of other students. I had a quick wit back then and would say things to someone who was probably completely innocent just to get my friends to laugh. I did it to teachers, students, anyone was fair game. I wish I could go back and tell those people that I did it out of my own insecurity. Do you remember those "slam books" we used to pass around where you wrote every classmates name at the top of the page and then passed them around and wrote either good or bad things about each person. What it must have been like for the less popular kids to read the entries about them. So,if I owe you an apology email me and you'll get it. It was such a defect of character to exploit others for a cheap laugh. I still have an uncontrollable urge to do it from time to time, but luckily I've finally grown a filter! If you are lucky enough to live in Mexico, you're lucky enough! |

RE: What do you still regret to this day? Posted Monday, April 6, 2009 08:01 PM Barbara, I also regret the things I did and said to people. Because I was more of a follower and not a leader, I tended to do what everyone was doing just in order to fit in. When I look back at those moments it makes me sad to think that I resorted to being mean to others in order to be accepted...what a hypocrite I was. But I suppose it's all part of the growing process and at least I came to my senses. Elizabeth |

RE: What do you still regret to this day? Posted Saturday, April 11, 2009 03:00 PM I hurt someone for a reason that seemed ok at the time. But time changes perspective. Or perspective changes over time. I don't know. To this day I regret what I did. Joe Coller |

RE: What do you still regret to this day? Posted Friday, April 17, 2009 12:31 AM I think my biggest regret is not knowing that I'm dyslexic until AFTER I graduated from College! I struggled so hard with math, I just thought I was stupid. Joni Joni |

We certainly weren't like the kids are today....not too much shyness going on these days! Elizabeth Elizabeth |

To Joni Whelan Google " Oxford House " DePaul University study shows about 75% long term ( i.e. 1 year) sobriety rate. One who knows. Joe F

RE: What do you still regret to this day? Posted Monday, July 6, 2015 03:40 AM Well, two things come to mind. One, I said something completely bogus and awful about someone and expected it to be kept a secret. It wasn't and it hurt someone's feelings. I was and am both ashamed and sorry to this day. Two, I wish I'd worked harder on homework. My latter struggles with Math could have been greatly reduced if I had simply done the homework. It kept me out of HS sports which I regret. I loved athletics and had to confine myself to summer little league and later several sports while in the Navy. Dang. Fred Kline |
