Life Since High School

From High School I worked in the Bill Adjustment in center city Philly at Strawbridge & Clothier. Some time later I worked at Lennox China in their Billing Dept. after moving and buying a house in Pleasantville NJ. After injury sustained in a car wreck, I moved to South Florida. My brother, Karl, and my Dad had already moved there. I worked for the rest of those years (over 30 in Florida) as an Office Manager, and as an Executive Secretary. I had been a single Mom all of those years after my divorce in '72. In 1999 I met my knight in shining armor on the Internet. He was in law enforcement in Tennessee (near Nashville). We married in September of 2000. We lived in TN until his retirement, then after a long search for the best place, we chose Arkansas. We are in the foothills of the Ozarks. It's lovely here. We own 5 acres high up over a small town. It's a little bit of heaven. During my years in Florida I raised a grandson. He went out on his own after we moved to Arkansas. He didn't much care (at that age) for the quiet life! LOL I was a court appointed guardian for emotionally disturbed children, who at times, spent time in my home in emergency situations. I also worked closely with the head psychologist at a wonderful public school for children with serious emotional problems. My part of this volunteer work was working with parents, helping them to get through the system. Many people drop out of the fight because they get so frustrated with all the passing the buck and red tape. I was well known for my tenatiousness! I seemed to get things done when everyone said it couldn't be done. There IS a way to fight city hall and win. I now have a total of 3 grandchildren, and 1 great on the way!

High School Memories:

Snake dances in Clementon. Clementon Park. Atco Drive-in. Atco raceway. Mr. Pierce, Ms. Rothermel, and others. Taking a Senior course in Ancient History as a filler when in 9th grade, and since it was a particular interest of mine, doing well. The seniors hated me. I was always raising my hand! LOL Having an essay printed in the school paper. Believe it or not, I was so shy then, that I was really not going to do it, but was urged and cajoled into submitting it! Gossip! Sorry, but it's fun sometimes, as long as it isn't hurting someone. A tall young man in our class who had severe epilepsy. Ray something. We became friends. He was such a sweet guy. Football games. Fear when the missle crisis was going on. Everyone speculating if we would be pummeled with atom bombs! LOL How I hated running the track! How I loved the trampoline in gym! Never did master the ropes! Or a push-up! LOL Clementon on friday nights. The sweet shop. Church picnics on Clementon Lake. Walking to and from school 1 1/2 miles! LOL Boy do I ever remember the rainy cold days! But, in the spring it was great. A huge tree on the way was covered with honeysuckle and I'd stop and chew on the nectar. Teas in the library. Serving the Eagles football team in the cafeteria when they came one time to the school. Having to dodge (I mean really dodge) a fella who had a massive crush on me! I mean everywhere I turned there he was. He'd bring me gifts and everything. I had no interest and did my all to discourage him! It finally sunk in! I feel bad to this day that I didn't try to be nicer about it, but didn't really know how then. So much more!
