THERESE BONDI SCHLAUCH (1953-1996)
Therese was born in January, 1953, and died Sunday, January 21, 1996. She was the beloved wife of Douglas L. Schlauch, loving mother to Anne and Emille Schlauch; daughter of Joseph and Jean Bondi, sister of Joanne Fazio, aunt of Michael and Paul Fazio and Carly Schlauch.
Therese fought a gallant battle against breast cancer. When diagnosed, she undertook treatment. The disease appeared to be in remission, but a year later, it had spread and soon after took her life. Therese is loved and missed by many.

Terri Bondi and I grew up in the same neighborhood. We played in each other's backyards and basements; made our First Communions together at St. Maurice; competed to see who could make the most beautiful May altars; went to the drive-in movies with our families; created dollhouses and furniture for our Barbies out of Kleenex and shoeboxes; rode bikes and skateboards and sleds; and graduated from HS together. There were tons of baby-boomer kids in our neighborhood and while we loved playing together, there were always little squabbles, power struggles and rapidly changing alliances. But Terri always got along with everyone. I remember green summer nights, lying in the grass, looking at the stars, giggling about everything, and pretending we didn't hear our mothers calling us in. Best of all were the endless shows we put on for our parents--our big number, "It Was Sad When the Great Ship Went Down" always brought down the house.
