William Dillard

William Dillard

‘Wyld Bill’ Dillard’s passing came to our attention recently.   Although we have no information about his early days after graduating from C.A.H.S., in recent years, he was a well-known figure in the Atlanta, GA music scene.   He was well-liked, and loved by music aficionados in the area.

He was famous in the community in that a couple of years ago “King Wyld Bill had a heart attack at a Zydefunk show in front of Northside Tavern, he returned the next month to dance cause his doctor told him he needed more cardio.”

Wyld Bill had a major stroke in March or April of this year (2015), and passed away in early June (June 3).

There are so many wonderful memories of 'Wyld Bill' on Facebook.   We share one of them here:

I'm at a loss for words… On one hand I'm sad, but every time I think about my friend Mr. Wyld Bill Dillard, I just smile! I met Bill through fb - through our many friends in common and through his love of music - and then in person at Blind Willies with Burnt Bacon - what a great night that was! There was never a time while with Wyld Bill that you were not having a good time. He lit up the room, and his excitement made the music all that much better. I'm so thankful for all the music he turned me onto - I will miss his random texts telling me of a band or an event that I should join him at… Always thankful. I will truly miss those invitations. We will all miss his recommendations, they definitely came from the heart. Bill was ALL heart and I could not have been more thrilled to wake up after a night out with Bill and find in a post that he included me among his Goddesses! Truly honored.

Thank you Bill for always saving me a spot in the front and for all of your love and smiles… I could not have had a better time. There will always be a special place in my heart and an empty space in front of the stage for you - I miss you and love you dearly
