I was a close friend of Karen in high school. It was an odd situation, but I was able to reconnect with her a few years prior to her passing, in a very unique way.
At my annual female-doctor annual exam, I was checking out and receiving my paperwork/handling my insurance co-pay and the employee that was to complete this process was on the telephone. I was standing there thinking "I recognize this voice" and when she got off of the phone, I asked her how I knew her...that the voice was familiar. It was Karen and we reconnected and stayed in touch for a short period of time after that unanticipated reunion. I was very sad when I read of her passing, but happy I had the chance meeting with her to relive our high-school memories and friendship.

I was Karen's neighbor growing up. I wrote to her son and found out she died from cancer. How sad she was a sweet lady.
