Tekla "Holly" Beeby, 82, of Troy, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024.
Tekka was born in Cleveland, OH in 1941 to Helen and Leonard Wiehn. After she graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA, she went on to study nursing at the University of Pittsburgh.
Her long career as a registered nurse took her from Bethesda, MD, in the U.S. Navy, all the way to becoming a hospice nurse and administrator at Cranbrook Hospice Care in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
She met her husband, Thomas Beeby, also in the Navy in Annapolis; and moved to Michigan to raise two sons: Daniel (54), and Todd (52). Her husband, Thomas passed away in 2004 at age 65. Holly and Tom were happily married for 37 years.
Holly was a deeply faithful person, and a proud, decades-long member of the congregation at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Over the years, Holly led trips to assist with Habitat for Humanity and was named layperson of the year in 1977. Upon retirement, she found great fulfillment in volunteering in the church office.
An avid reader and lightning-fast solitaire player, Holly is survived by many lifelong friends; many of them neighbors, fellow church members and members of many book clubs along the way.
Services were held at Beautiful Savior Luthern Church in Bloomfield Hills, MI on 6-8-2024.
