Life is good and I thank the good Lord for that.
After graduating from Pitt Nursing School in 1963, I went into the Navy Nurse Corp for 2 years and served at Bethesda Naval Hospital. I met a dashing Naval officer named Tom Beeby and we were married in 1966 at Beck Chapel in Bloomington, Indiana where Tom attended law school. After Tom's graduation we settled in Birmingham, Michigan. I worked for a while and then had 2 beautiful, blue-eyed Beeby baby boys in 1970 and 1972. Imagine my good fortune to be a stay-at-home Mom and get to do all the fun things that entails. I also got to be a "professional volunteer". The "boys" graduated from Michigan State (Dan) and University of MI (Todd). Right now they both live in Brooklyn, NY with their lovely wives Melanie and Laura respectively. (Mel and Dan graced me with a wonderful granddaughter Sept 2008--she is the joy of my life, for sure)
In 1995 Tom retired due to health issues and I went back to nursing at Cranbrook Hospice. I had volunteered there starting in 1988 so transitioning to a paid position in 1992 and to nursing supervisor in 1994 seemed to be what God wanted me to do.
Sadly, Tom died in 2004 and I seem to miss him more and more as time goes by. Fortunately I am busy volunteering again after retiring in 2006. I love my "work" at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and Cranbrook Hospice. I do a bit of traveling. I especially love going to the Beeby cottage in Northern Michigan which Tom's grandfather Dan built in 1913.
That's life in a nutshell.
