After HS I went to NTSU with Dennis Thompson, Charlie Stockton, Don Ellis and Bill Ooley. I was very impressed with all the partying and tended not to study very much if at all. Eventually I met Gayle and was immeadiately striken. We meet in the Spring of '65 and married in Plainview on my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary Dec 19, 1965. Then as now people ask me what Gayle could possible see in me. I try not to let her hear those comments. The semester we got married I flunked out.

I managed to avoid the draft by joining the Navy. and ended up on a ship out of Norfolk that basically spent 2 weeks at sea and 2 weeks in port. It was really great duty for a married guy. Of course while in the Navy I saved the free world several times but all that is classified. In December before my discharge in February '70 our 1st daughter was born.

Although the ship seemed never to go anywhere we did go throught Panama Canal to be near President Johnson. Although it was a great trip it came a bad time. My parents had decided to drive to Norfolk and spend a week with Gayle and I. They really hadn't got to know Gayle and Dad hadn't had a real vacation in years. We made great plans and I had leave scheduled. They called us when they left Oklahoma City. Later that night I got a call from the ship that we were have a recall. They frequently did this just to see how many of us they could get on board, just another drill. When I got to the ship they were loading supplies like crazy. The next morning at 0800 we pulled out for 6 weeks. We had no idea where we were going or why. Gayle got to know my parents real well in the following week.

We left Norfolk and moved to Dallas where I found work as an electonics tech. After 9 months of that I decided it was time to get serious with school and get a degree. In May of 72 I graduated with honors from NT with an accounting degree.

I became a CPA but never worked in a private practice. I spent my first 25 years working for Tenneco. My last job was with El Paso Energy. The best part of that job was that I got to go to Australia 8 times. Gayle went with me two times. It is a fanastic place and highly recommend it to anyone. Most of that time was spent in Perth on the west coast. In case you are thinking about going from the time I was picked up at the house till I checked in the hotel in Perth it was 32 1/2 hours.

We had two more daughters after the first then a grandaugther before we got the first boy. We now have 3 grandsons and two grandaughters.

We really enjoy traveling especially with our old friends the Stocktons. Last year went spent a week in Whisler Canada playing golf with them and this year we had a trip to Memphis.

I am retired now and have no desire to ever get up and make the 1 hour drive to downtown Houston.

I hope to see all of you at the reunion this year.

I added a photo of my family plus three extra kids. This photo was taken in Durango at the Bar D Chuckwagon. We had a great time that night. After 5 days in Durango all the kids headed back home. Gayle and I went on to Taos NM for 3 weeks of golf and sightseeing. Hope everyone had a great summer.

EP wants to know when I will grow up, this from a man living in the 70's. Here is a photo from my Canada fishing trip. I just did escape the grasp of this black bear. I sent this to my 8 year old granddaughter who told her mom "he is such a goofball" . I just get no respect.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a nice quiet day. Since all the kids were here for Mother's Day I thought a day of rest was best. And I got to watch the Rockets. When the grandkids are here we have to watch Sponge Bob or something similar.

Before our 50th Anniversary Gayle and I had family photos taken. This is a picture of the whole gang, 3 daughters and sons-in law along with all 6 grandchildren. They were all here along with family and friends Saturday to help us celebrate our 50th. The Stocktons drove down from Hot Springs village to join in.
