Cathy Ann Simpson, 48, of Poulsbo died August 23 of a long illness.

She was born in Bremerton to Michael Manavie, Sr. and Janice (Hipp) Lund. She married John Simpson on Dec. 27, 2002, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mrs. Simpson was an early childhood education teacher and later a substitute teacher for the South Kitsap School District. She also owned and operated Father's Heart Preschool and Kindergarten.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, George S. Hipp; and uncle, Dennis G. Hipp. She is survived by her husband; mother (Larry); father (Sami); son, Aaron Wix; brother, Michael Manavie, Jr. (Tiffany); step-brothers, Brian Lund and Mark Lund (Melissa); nephews, Alex and Jacob; step-nephews and nieces, Brandi, Joli, Derek, Steven and Connar; and grandmother, Irene Hipp.

Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. Donations: Christ Memorial Church, 18901 8th Ave. NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370 or Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.
