Instructions for First Time Visitors and Important Information

  *****Before you read any further I would like to bring something to your attention.  Unfortunately no matter what we do there will always be someone who posts inappropriate material whether it be in text, picture or video.  No one is trying to be a censor, however - inappropriate is inappropriate.  As Site Adminstrator I will be notified each time anything is posted.  Should I find something that is inappropriate it will be deleted.  In the same respect if any classmate finds something that is inappropriate please advise me.  I have complete access to all information on the site, which includes your personal profiles.  I also have the ability to restrict access to the site.  If necessary, I can delete user names and passwords and the person will not longer have access to the site.

Throughout the site, you will find links to other destinations in the site. You'll recognize them, because they appear in a different color font. Roll your mouse over the link, and an underline will appear. Click on it, and you will be wisked to the place it describes.

 

1. THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE

This site was created to connect the Schreiber Class of 1965. You'll find that it is one of the best sites on the internet to re-connect with your high school friends because it is a page made for the Schreiber Class of 1965. Pictures and memories in our scrapbooks have added an entirely different perspective for the class. It's a virtual reunion every day!

The site is ad free and private.

2. PRIVACY NOTICE

All contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address) that you enter into this website will be kept confidential. The owners of ClassCreator.com (owners of the framework the site was built on) are located in Ann Arbor,MI. As a small, locally owned business, they understand the importance of your privacy. Your personal information will never be sold to other sites. It will not be shared or distributed.

Due to security concerns, all classmates must now be verified before gaining access to our page. An address, phone number, or other personal information entered onto your profile should prove you are you. If you prefer not to answer these questions, a simple security question may be emailed to you, that only you, as a graduate of Schreiber and the Class of 1965, would be able to answer. It may take several hours before you are confirmed.

Your contact information is private; your street address, e-mail address, and phone number cannot be seen by classmates unless you check the box on your profile that grants permission. Each Classmate has the ability to limit the visibility of their profiles to "classmates only" by clicking on the appropriate answer in the Profile Visibility option when they setup their profiles. If you do not opt for privacy on this line, your profile will be fully indexable by major search engines.

Finding my ClassCreator Profile pages by searching Google or other major search engines:

• If you are signed on to the site, and then use a search engine to see if the privacy options above are working, it will appear they are NOT. This is because you are signed in. Sign out, and check again. Your name will not appear in the search.
• Personal emails may be shared within this site, using site mail. Classmates will be able to contact others who are registered on the site without sharing their own personal email address, unless they choose to do so.
• Important! Re: "All class" Email news sent from us to you via this web site - For those of you with spam blocking or email filtering capabilities, please add noreply@classcreator.net to your email account as a safe sender in order to receive email communication from us.

3. SETTING UP YOUR PROFILE

In order to access the pages that are password protected on this site, you must setup a profile by providing a minimum of your email address, and a password.

To set up your profile:
Find the "Classmates Profiles" link on the top left side of the homepage, locate your name and click on it. Follow the prompts to create your profile.

Private information like your email address, home address, and phone numbers will not be visible to fellow classmates unless you check the box that gives your permission. Mailing addresses are requested in the event that it is necessary to contact you by snail mail or phone. Your information will never be given to other classmates without your permission. For additional privacy information, please see item # 2 above.

Please note that if you do not want your name, any yearbook picture, or any other pictures on this site, you can request that it be removed by contacting us. This will end all communications to you from this site, unless you ask that special arrangements be made.

If you POSE with a large group for pictures, we will be unable to remove those pictures from the site, so please do not participate, if you do not want your picture posted as a part of group photos.

If you post more than one picture of yourself on the site, please be sure to pick one for your master photo, by clicking on that option.

If you find errors in your listing, please contact us and we will make corrections. Entering over 350 names was a BIG task, and in spite of best efforts, errors have been found.

If your name is not already on the site, but you attended school with us at any time, contact us with basic information about when you attended Schreiber, junior high, or grade school with us, and your name will be added. You do not have to be a graduate to be included on the site, but your intended year of graduation should have been 1965. If you would like to be considered for guest status, please write to PWCLASS54@AOL.COM, with an explanation as to why you believe you should have access to the site.

Updates: If you change your email address, snail mail address, or phone number, please update your profile so we have up to date information. That way you'll always know what the Class of '65 is up to!

Passwords:

Choosing a password: Clicking the "Remember Me" will allow you to by-pass entering your password each time you visit, but eventually the "remember me" will fail. Please make note of your password!!

If you forget your password, just click on "forgot my password" and the site will send an email with log-on information.

If you have several email addresses and you don't remember the address you used to set-up your account, please send a message to PWCLASS65@AOL.COM and I will send the information to you. This could take as long as 48 hours, so please be patient.

4. COMMUNICATING WITH CLASSMATES

To contact a fellow classmate, simply click on the "Message Center" or use the email option at the bottom of each Classmate's Profile page. This feature will allow open communication between Classmates, while protecting your personal information. No one but you and the classmate you are contacting (not even the site administrator) will have access to these messages.

If you wish to share your email address or other personal information within a message written on our site, you are welcome to do so.

5. ADDING PICTURES TO YOUR PROFILE

We MAY add your Port Light yearbook picture to your Profile.  If you would prefer not to have your yearbook picture, or prefer another, please contact me.  If a a picture is added to your Profile from the Site Administrator you will not be able to change, it must be done from here.

To add pictures:

• On the homepage, locate the links on the left side under "MEMBER FUNCTIONS".
• Click on the link: Edit/Upload Photos.
• The Photo page will appear and you’ll see a gray box titled: Upload New photo. Click on this box
• On the Add Photo page you will find the basic instructions for uploading your photos. There are 3 places on this page to make entries.
• Sort: The sort number controls the order in which photos display on your page. By default your pictures will appear in the order you entered them, so this isn’t important for your first picture. But later if you want picture #5 to appear as #1, you will have to change the sort numbers on your pictures.
• Caption: Caption is the description you write for your picture.
• Browse: Use this to find the picture on your computer. Clicking "browse" will open a window where you will be able to see a list of the folders on your computer. Locate the folder that holds your picture. For most classmates this will be the My Pictures folder located in the My Documents folder.
• Select the picture you want to upload by clicking on it once, and then click "Open" at the bottom of the box.
• Now you will be taken back to the Add Photo page. In the Upload Photo box you will see the path to your picture.
• Enter the Caption for your picture in the box.
• Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
• To see your picture, go to your Profile Page and look for your picture at the bottom of your profile.

6. MANAGING MUSIC

Music is currently unavailable on our site.  We are considering adding it. 

7. SITE PAGE NAMES

"Message Forum" is the place to post your pictures, and have public conversations with the rest of the class.

If you're ever curious about any link on the page, just click on it! There isn't anything on our site that will wreck your computer. Relax! Enjoy! This site is as safe as the bridge to the Field House. It may make you nervous at first, but you'll be a pro in no time!

All new classmates joining our site will now be required to go through a "verification" process before being given full access to our site. Profiles will be checked to be certain you are the person you say you are. If you do not wish to give basic information about yourself, a security question may be sent to you. The security question will be information about Paul D. Screiber HS, that is not easily found online.
