So sad to tell everyone of the death of Richard Charles Fleming. Rich died on October 10, 2020 of a heart attack while visiting one of his daughters. Rich was one of my best friends during high school, college and beyond. We met at Churchill and played frisbee in the hallways while we should have been in class. From there, we actually lived together in a house while attending the University of Maryland with Gene and John Hibbert. We all went to separate colleges for our freshman year and ended up renting the same house starting our sophomore year. Rich and I started a painting company in 1971 and painted our way through school. It was a blast and we had so many great times together. After graduating from Maryland, Rich and Virginia Galliher were married and had three girls. Rich was an attorney and had several businesses during his career. I will always remember the basketball games we played together as well as trips to the beach, painting houses, and growing our families. We will miss you brother!

This comes as a great and sad shock to me. We were friends in high school, but even better, he tried very hard to keep up with some classmates over the years, including me. Several years ago he came to Jacksonville - Debbie (Ryan) Cairns and I had lunch with him, and we took a lovely walk down memory lane. He was so proud of his three daughters, and shared photos and stories of them, their careers and lives.
He never forgot a birthday, and frequently emailed uplifting messages, scripture verses, videos, etc. Rick was a strong Christian, and was eloquent in discussing his faith in Jesus Christ.
He was also a great consolation to me after my mother died last year. These are the words he wrote to me after her passing, and I share this benediction now for him as well: "May the God of all comfort grant us all His grace and assurance that Rick has found peace and rest in His presence, even as our hearts long to be with Him."
Rest In Peace, my friend.
