Ralph Buglass (Buglass)

Anyone have a copy of our 1971 graduation program? I'm working on a history of Shady Grove Music Fair, the venue of that momentous event.

Ralph. I don't have a copy of the program but I do have a little trivia. What I remember they lined us up according to our height. This meant I was hanging in the front with Willi Fuchs and I possibly Bob if I remember correctly. All the best.

Ralph,

The 1972 (1 year later) graduation program was included in our 20th reunion package which I still have at home. We also graduated from the Shady Grove Music Fair. If you need a copy, I'll be happy to get it to you.

Hi Ralph, I might have a copy but I won't be home for a couple of weeks.

I will check for you when I get back.

I recently found a box with a lot of Churchill stuff with Observer newspapers and some photos, so I will dig deep... so it's a definite maybe

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Ralph - I don't have the graduation program handy but remember going to Shady Grove when it was under tent to see musicals (with my family), Camelot being one of my favorites. I'm sure you've found this out but the stage rotated when it was a tent just like it did later, after they built the structure which we graduated in.

Fun fact: I saw Iron Butterfly there when we were in 10th or 11th grade.  Remember "In A Godda Davida"?  Graduation was anti-climatic after that!  :)

Hi all!

Yes, graduation went by height and I was first in line for the girls. Lesllie Garber was supposed to be first but missed rehearsal, so I was the next one by height. If you can't remember, we were "short!" (Still to this day.)

Wishing everyone health and safety during this pandemic!

It seem that everyday I get A different survey. One Survey includes as many as 22 people and the next only includes 4 or 5 with the same Question. Odd?

04/16/21 09:07 AM #10

Sue Alexander (Sonley)

Hi Bobby -

One survey was attached to the email that went out to the whole class, the other one is on the Home Page announcement. The answers message is probably generated by both; we'll have to consolidate them as they are the same questions but two separate surveys. Would have been nice to only have one but...

Many thanks to you and everyone who has answered and especially to those who are willing to help organize, it's much appreciated!

Have a super weekend -

Sue

I'm hoping to be able to attend the Reunion in October.  It would be so great to see everyone, wrinkles and all!!  I'm assuming we will all be fully vaccinated by then.  My only problem (although it's a good problem) is that my daughter's wedding will be Friday, October 8.  I guess I should be available to attend the event on Saturday evening.  Perhaps people could start voting for their first choice weekend (October 1-3 vs. October 8-10) so they we can settle on a weekend and start making plans.  My preference would be for October 1-3 but the second weekend (October 8-10) I should be able to attend some of the events.   The final decision should be made by the people who volunteer to do the work!  (Start putting on your wrinkle cream.)

What about an option for the 3rd week in October?
Is that a possibility?

Sue Alexander (Sonley)

Hi Classmates!

As you know, our 50th Reunion is quickly approaching....  as you know, we are doing this in conjunction with the Class of '70 because they were stimied by Covid last year.

SAVE THE DATES:  FRIDAY OCT 15, SAT OCT 16  AND SUNDAY OCT 17.

We need your help to round up our classmates.  Please contact at least five of your friends from WCHS years and ask them to join us in October.  If they have not signed up on this site yet, encourage them to do so asap.  And... if you agreed to help us in your survey response, I promise we'll be in touch to take you up on it!

Here is what we know so far:

We're in the process of making room arrangements at group pricing at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel & Conference Center at 5701 Marinelli Rd, Rockville MD. They will be available first come, first served and there will be a deadline to get the group price. We'll post more details as soon as they are available. If you don't want to stay at the hotel, suggest checking out Air BnB or VRBO for your own local accomodations.

Friday evening, Oct 15: we'll get together at a local, walking distance from hotel watering hole. Everyone is welcome, Cash bar. Stay tuned for more details

Sat evening, Oct 16: The Main Event: Normandy Farms, details still in process. We'll need an advance headcount for the restaurant so please be ready to commit and pay when we get that sorted out. There will likely be food included and a cash bar. More details to be posted.

Sunday brunch Oct 17: Join us - your option - we will provide a location - again walking distance from the hotel - if you'd like to attend. Everyone will be responsible for their own check. More info to come.

Please help us round up our classmates!

Let's make this the BEST REUNION EVER!

I am so disappointed that I can't attend. My college reunion (postponed from last year) is that weekend and I committed long ago to attend.  If it was any other weekend in October I'd be there. Have fun!

I am so sorry that I won't be able to make it -- the plans all sound wonderful!!  But I have business-related functions for my job here in Chicago that I have to attend, almost the exact same dates, would not be able to get to Md. in time.

Thanks so much to Sue and Betty and all the others who are working on our reunion.  It really will be a fun weekend.  I plan to attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Try to reach out to all your old buddies and invite them to join us.  Hopefully, everyone will be vaccinated but masks are always in style with any outfit for people who want to wear them.  Go Bulldogs!!

Hi everyone.  Janet inspired me to post a message too.  I plan to attend.  I'll actually drive up from Florida, so I hope to see a lot of old buddies!  Hey, and I'm even on a diet for the occasion.  :)

I would like to emphasize also that it would be GREAT if everyone were vaccinated.  Nothing political about it - but Florida in particular is being overrun by new cases - in both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.  I'm happy to wear a mask too, but it would be great to see everyone's smiling face!

Look forward to seeing everyone!

Christine Sutton

I plan to be there for the reunion I'll be coming up from Suffolk Virginia which is near Virginia Beach. Would help to have phone number to hotel to call And someone in charge. Do we have any idea of how many people are planning to come at this time. Barbara Sawyer, (Barbara Most) 757-373-8660
