Daniel Royden Murphy
Born: Apr 4, 1953
Died, Jan 17, 2011 in California at age 57
Dan was the oldest of eight children. In his younger years, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. He became a seaman electrician in the U.S. Navy and was a crewman on three aircraft carriers: the USS Hancock (which sailed out of the port of Alameda, CA, to Vietmam); and the USS Ranger and USS Constellation, both out of San Diego. After Dan left the Navy, he settled in southern California to be near his family who had relocated there.

Mary Lou and I had many good times with Dan from grade school thru high school. He was the strong, quiet type with a good sense of humor. The oldest of eight, he was a good example for all of his younger siblings. You were a good man, Dan Murphy.
