I remember Ed as an avid member volunteer on the fire department (Rockville?) when we were in high school. He could be a little wild and crazy, but as I have learned (now married to a 20-year veteran of the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department), that goes with the territory. I admire Ed for his dedication and service to the DC community. RIP, Cap!

Captain Ed Sims Retires

January 18, 2008 by Alan Etter DCFD PIO

A celebration luncheon was held last week to honor the career of Capt. Ed Sims, who retired this month.

Sims, who has worked the past two years at PSO, is retiring after 29 years on the job.  He was presented with a drawing of Engine 24, a place he called his ‘home away from home’.

Good luck!
