Class of 91
Poughkeepsie High School, June of 1991. The Graduating Class assembles in the main lobby, a sea of blue and white. Some knew exactly what their post high school path would be while others were not entirely certain where to go from here, The one thing they all have in common is their eagerness to make their mark on this world!
My journey to collect photos, phrases and anything that would get the class excited about having a reunion led me to the 1991 yearbook. Among the first few pages I found our principal, Eileeen Camasso's message to our class. In reading it now, as an adult, having 25 years of life experience since high school, I realize this may be the first time I've actually stepped back and read her message to our class. It certainly was not the page of the yearbook I flipped to day after day or year after year when I felt the urger to go back to the days when I had no bills, no real responsibilities; where my only job was to go to school, get good grades & stay out of trouble! I wonder now if she was a great wordsmith or if she knew something about our class that we hadn't yet figured out! I like to believe it is the latter. Below is what she had to say to Our Class.
As graduates of PHS in 1991 you have demonstrated the skills and perseverance necessary to receive a high school diploma. Never before in the history of this school and this state have requirements been placed at so high a level. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.
As you receive your high school diploma; you pass into the adult world of college, family and work. May you always carry with you pleasant memories of PHS and high expectations for the future. Most importantly, may you enjoy a life filled with joy , peace and personal success.
My sincerest best wishes always!
Eileen L. Camasso
