I taught 5th and 6th grade (primarily math) for 4 years in Helena, Montana, and 26 years in Missoula, Montana before retiring and moving to Anchorage, Alaska, and starting again as an 8th grade U.S. History teacher. I'm on my 6th year in Alaska, and still very much enjoying teaching. In fact, I like teaching 8th grade more than 6th grade, and I like History more than math. So, even though I can retire here in two years, I may just keep going for awhile.
My partner and I do a lot of traveling during the Christmas, Spring breaks, and Summer vacation. We primarily go to Mexico. When you live in Alaska during the winter, you get a little sun and warmth deprived. I bought a small motor home a couple of years ago, and we spend the summers traveling in the (lower 48). That's how you talk when you live up here. Alaska is a breath-taking place to live: magnificent mountains with glaciers, pristine bodies of water, lots of wildlife and great fishing.
