Frank Holley

PRICE/CORTEZ,COLO.- Franklin Edward Holley, age 49, died Aug. 12, 2009 at his residence in Cortez, Colo.

He was born Oct. 7, 1959 in Payson, Utah to Mirl P. and Emma Beach Holley.

Frank was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School. Shortly after graduation he began his coal mining at the age of 18.

Over the next 30 years, he worked in various coal mines in the area, and his expertise was highly regarded by many. He worked in all phases of mining, including mine rescue which he truly enjoyed.

In his spare time he loved being outdoors with family and friends. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers. He loved animals and was known as a knowledgeable horseman.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Holley, Price; Amanda Holley, Helper; loving companion, Darla Huffman, Cortez, Colo; mother, Emma Holley, Price; three brothers and one sister, Terry (Cheryl) Holley, Smithfield; Cliff (Sharon) Holley, Rock Springs, Wyo; Sandy (Rick) Sergent, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Steve (Barbara) Holley, Sandy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial service, Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, 1 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street. Family will be at Mitchell's Thursday one hour prior to service.
