Favorite School Story:

Here are some acts of love that I remember:

At Senior dance, Phillip Meyers out on the floor with one of our classmates who had a developmental delay. She was OVER the moon! What a gentleman and sweetheart. I learned later that he volunteered with those students on a regular basis.

Kevin Sizemore organizing hurricane relief: eye opening.

Kim Bragg writing moving poetry about death: messages to our lost loved ones encased in balloons.

Kim Bragg challenging my unexamined, uber-religious thinking, prodding me into philosophy and adulthood: "And the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table!"

The entire class voting for Andrea for Homecoming Queen: a gift of solidarity and hope.

Comments:

My father, Melvin, died very suddenly in early February, 2009. For those of you who have also lost parents, I would like to hear your stories if you care to share them. I've posted a few photos of Dad on this site.

This photo was taken in 2006 at Snowshoe, WV. Dad loved it there! Though he was a little freaked out by the bear in the parking lot.
