Gerald Hickman

Hickman, Gerald Todd
50, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2008 in Phoenix. Gerry was born January 11, 1958, in Salt Lake City, UT, the second son of Joan Parkinson and Harold R Hickman. The family lived in Ogden, UT and Las Vegas, NV before settling in Provo, UT. Gerry graduated from Provo High School in 1976, and served an LDS mission in Papeete, Tahiti, from 1977-1979. After his mission, Gerry attended Brigham Young University. He married Jana Lee Bills on January 3, 1980, in the Provo LDS temple. After graduating from BYU, Gerry attended law school at Arizona State University, earning his Juris Doctor cum laude in 1985. Gerry began his legal career at Teilborg, Sanders, and Parks, where he became a partner in 1992. In 1998 Gerry became a founding member of Jardine, Baker, Hickman, and Houston. Gerry specialized in the practice of insurance defense. An active member of the LDS church, Gerry has served as Young Mens President, Ward Mission Leader, Bishop's Counselor, and High Counselor. Gerry's hobbies included cycling, reading, wakeboarding, and sports. In July 2008, Gerry wrote that he wanted to be remembered for his "kindness to my children, love of my wife, and honesty in my practice." Gerry and Jana are the parents of four children, Lisa (Justin) Cuff, Kate (Justus) Gunther, Sarah, and Ryan, and one granddaughter, Jenna Brooke Cuff. Gerry is also survived by his parents, his brother Tracy, and sisters Kimberly (Kerry) Kimzey and Kari (Garrin) McGlinn. Gerry will be sorely missed. He is separated from us for a while, but we know he is doing the work of our Heavenly Father. We know that there is a plan that allows families to be together forever. Our family will hold onto this belief until we are together again.
