Eric Jones Nielsen

1964-2007

Eric Jones Nielsen, age 43, unexpectedly departed mortality late in the evening of Saturday, July 21, 2007 at his Provo, Utah home. He had entered mortality on the snowy morning of January 22, 1964. He was the third son born to Shirlene Jones and Swen C. Nielsen.

From infancy, Eric presented an energetic and exuberant approach to life which endured into adulthood. He had a unique capacity to look past the blemishes of others and extend them fellowship, which at times led to a positive course correction in their lives. He was a friend to all and found great joy in helping and serving others, almost to a fault, and often at the expense of his own leisure.

He attended Provost, Farrer and Timpview schools. During his early youth he learned the joys of work in his Grandpa Jones' store: Jones Paint and Glass. Eric admired his grandfather's spirit of entrepreneurship and tried to emulate it in his own pursuits.

Eric formed an unusually strong and lasting bond with his siblings: Richard, Bradley and Claudia, as well as with is parents and extended family. The highlights of his life always involved association with family.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a missionary in the Ohio Cleveland Mission where he was called as an Assistant to the President. He also served as a highly effective Elder's Quorum President and Young Men's President.

Upon returning from his mission he married the love of his life, Phyllis Galan, in the Provo Temple on April 19, 1985. They were blessed with five bright and beautiful children: Nicole, Kelsey, Lydia, Christopher and Andrea.

Eric organized and operated three used car enterprises: ET Auto, Slate Canyon Motors and Eric Nielsen Auto Sales. He found great satisfaction in providing his customers with unparalleled service and strove to do so with unfailing integrity.

His premature separation from those who love him has left an ache that can only be dissipated through the sure knowledge that he is happy and that we will all be greeted by him upon our own arrival where he is.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Slate Canyon 6th Ward Chapel, 1315 East 900 South, Provo. Friends may call on Friday from 6 Ð 8:00 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo as well as from 9:30 Ð 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to info@bergmortuary.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Eric J. Nielsen Memorial Fund which may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank branch.
