Michael Ray Stanger, 57, of Orem, Utah was called home unexpectedly after suffering a blood clot to his lung on Friday, August 20, 2021 surrounded by family and loved ones. Mike was born on August 12, 1964 in Seattle, Washington to Ronald (Ron) Ray Stanger and Viva Brown.

Mike was the second youngest in his family of five children: three brothers, Ron, Dave and Rob and one sister Diane. He attended schools in Provo, graduating from Timpview High School where he excelled in basketball and golf. During his senior year, he met a sophomore named Sandra Thorn, who became the love of his life.

Mike and Sandra were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 25, 1986. Together they have 4 children: Madison, Dalton, Brock and Tatum. They were his pride and joy and biggest accomplishment, until he was given the title, Grandpa. Nothing made him happier than watching shows and quietly sneaking treats to his granddaughter, Ivory. He was ecstatic to meet his new grandson, Stockton, born just 2 days prior to his passing.

It is impossible to think of Mike Stanger without thinking of golf. Mike worked in the golf industry through his entire professional career and gained lifelong friendships in the process. His love of golf was introduced by his father and he carried that love to his own son’s, both who played at the collegiate level. He was a member and generous supporter of the Utah Section PGA.

Mike was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a true disciple of Jesus Christ. He served in multiple capacities throughout the church, but particularly loved serving with the youth.

Mike was full of life and it reflected in all those around him. His family has hundreds of pictures and videos to prove it. He lived life for his family. He was a constant side-line supporter in any event they were participating in. Even those that were not his children knew they could count on “Stang” to support them. His absence will be missed by many who knew and loved him. He was truly a friend to all.

Mike is survived by his wife Sandra Stanger, children: Madison (Colby) Swanson, Dalton (Morgan) Stanger, Brock (Keslie) Stanger and Tatum Stanger, grandchildren, Ivory Swanson and Stockton Stanger. He is also survived by siblings, Rob Stanger of Utah, Ron (Jennifer) Stanger of Utah, Diane (Brian) Fowles of Texas and many extended family members he loved dearly.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Ron R. Stanger Sr., mother Viva Stanger, brother David Stanger and his wife Wyndy Stanger.
