
Gilmer Ralph Nielsen, beloved son of Gilmer and Dorothy Nielsen, passed away August 11, 1994.
Gilmer was born in Provo on May 27, 1955. He attended Provo High School where he was active in the A Capella Choir, the High Brows Chorus, and the swim team, graduating in 1973.
Gilmer served in the National Guard Special Forces as radio specialist in the paratrooper’s unit. After serving an LDS mission to the Guatemala El Salvador Mission, Gilmer attended Snow College, receiving an Associate degree in Electronics.
On August 29, 1978, Gilmer married Cathleen Black. He was a loving father to three children: Wendy Jean, Tammy Lynn, and Gilmer Adam.
At the time of his death, Gilmer lived in McGill, Nevada, employed in maintenance at the Nevada State Prison. He loved to sing, he loved to fly. He loved to be out of doors, especially in the mountains.
Gilmer is survived by his parents: his wife and children, as well as by his brothers and sisters: Trudy Nielsen (Provo); Robin and Reed Erdmann (Spanish Fork); Anna and Dennis Woodward (Spanish Fork); and James and Lisa Nielsen (West Valley).
Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 18, 11 a.m. at the Provo North First Ward Chapel, 1260 W. 1150 North, Provo.
