In Memory

Kory Sorensen

Kory Edward Sorensen (64) of American Fork, UT and Grand Terrace, CA died on April 3rd, 2019.
Son of Helen and Wilson Sorensen, and husband to Roxann Gleave Sorensen, Kory passed away after a multi-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy (sometimes labeled as Atypical Parkinson's disease). He is survived by his loving wife as well as 6 children; Trevan (Alexis) Sorensen, Cody (Jen) Sorensen, Emily (Scott) Yeates, Bryan (Tanairi) Sorensen, Brad (Nikki) Sorensen and Danny (Whitney) Sorensen; and 15 grandchildren.  Also survived by his two brothers; Kent (Jill) Sorensen, and Kim (Tonia) Sorensen.
Kory's passions were faith, family, and sports. In his youth he was an accomplished athlete at Provo High School; including a state championship in basketball in 1973. He earned his Eagle Scout award, and helped all 5 of his boys achieve the same. He served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ in Kobe, Japan. Later in life as a father, he would spend his spare time molding, and mentoring his children, and many other youth as a coach for dozens of youth and high school sports teams. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord, and served faithfully in many volunteer capacities in his church including serving as a Bishop for many years. Kory spent his life in the service of others. There was rarely an opportunity to serve that he passed up which has made his bout with MSA his greatest challenge as he has had to rely upon family and neighbors to serve him, for which he was forever grateful. His favorite coaching line was always "it's a game of inches" but with Kory, he always went the extra mile.
We invite you to join with us in celebrating and memorializing the wonderful life of this amazing husband, father, grandfather and servant of the Lord. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 13, 2019, 11:00 am at the LDS ward chapel at 270 N. 900 E. American Fork.  Viewings will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 6-8pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. Kory is a amazing friend. March of our senior yearch my family moved to Orem. I had just moved o knew the address, but I didn't know if 633 North or East, thus I didn't know 300 East or North. I attended a basketball game. I went to Kory after the game congratulate of the great game I asked if he could give a ride ride home, he did. It took time.

This link below is to a Studio 5 broadcast where Kory was celebrated. I liked and respected Kory very much. Now I find that his son Danny and his family live across the street from me and are much loved neighbors. His granddaughter, Kennedy, has been in my Primary class and sung in my choir. If you watch the video , go to 2:30 and you'll hear a tribute to Kory by his good friend, Tracy Ward. I'm so grateful for the connections and the testament that contrary to Mark Anthony,  the good men do lives after them.
Sincerely and gratefully,

Karen Maxwell (Bradshaw)
