Doug Beaty

On September 17, 2016, Douglas Dell Beaty lifted his heart and soul unto the heavens after a five-year battle with cancer. Doug was truly one of God's finest children and will always be remembered for his ability to never meet a stranger, his great love of life and his larger than life laugh. Doug will be missed by his wife, Mindy, his sons Brandon and Parker, his brother and sister-in-law Russell and Cheryl Beaty. Mindy has been supported by her cousins Sue Anne and William McKinney as well as a host of friends.

Doug was born March 1, 1951 to Mary Etta Steele Beaty and Doris Dell Beaty in Quanah, Texas and was always fond of reminiscing about his childhood and young adult life in Quanah where he graduated from Quanah High School.

The next chapter of Doug's life would begin at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, where he studied finance. While in college, Doug began working at Amarillo National Bank, and the opportunity there opened the door that would later shape his future. Doug remained in the finance industry the rest of life, where he made business and personal relationships that exist to this day.

Along this path, Doug was a member of the Mortgage Bankers' Association including serving as a Board Member of the Texas MBA and President of the Austin MBA, during which term he completely financed and constructed a house for Habitat for Humanity. In 2014, Austin Mortgage Bankers awarded Doug the Distinguished Service Award.

Doug has been an Austin resident since 1981, was a member of the Tarrytown United Methodist Church and was a loyal Texas Longhorn fan. He will be missed greatly by family and friends, but will never be forgotten, since we are all better people for having known him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to The University of Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, located at 3125 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78705. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, 2601 Exposition Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78703.
