As all have said, thanks for posting this video Tom. There are a number of who have not followed Tom's career closely but have known from high school that he was and is a special person. To see him honored like this is especially nice for those knew Tom, played with him and against him. Congrats Tom.

Well desereved.  Tom didn't want a big deal made of this, but this was a Big Deal.  He's the best and he deserves this dedication.

I was really happy to see that Tom Kiley was given this incredible and well deserved honor. All of us from Toms generation who served in the military, either here at home or overseas, know that we too can share in part and in some way with Toms honor. Lets be honest, our veterans who served during the Vietnam years were not held in very high esteem. So Toms well deserved honor glows proudly upon all of us. Thank you Tom, and thank you Quincy for this well deserved recognition of a soldiers duty and for his service to our community and to our nation. Walk proudly Tom for all of us knowing this, that we will always have your back. Jerry

The men of NQHS Class of 1964 enjoying another great day at Alba in Quincy Square. Our annual holiday luncheon was well-attended once again and a teriffic day was had by all.  So many fascinating stories and life experiences in this group!   Starting at the top we have:

Happy holiday to my classmated still surviving in the cold weather of Quincy! One year you must tryi to escape to the Keys where a white Christmas used to mean cocain but now means our beaches. Both come in grams, but sandy beaches are still legal, but our wana-be president the govenor may change that too! Remember the ole Boston saying, vote early, vote often.

And, of course, happy holidays to all who have escaped!

I guess the old saying is true, you can take the boy out of Boston, but you can't take Boston out of the boy! Maybe it should be Quincy or North Quincy,

Be safe and warm on the holidays!

Tom the ferry isn't  reliable in the weather turns! Probably luckily! At least it drop you by Schooner Wharf Bar, one of my favorites, only a few minutes walk! Looking forward to seeing you.

We will be leaving Atlanta and its frigid temperatres for our sunny Florida tomorrow. I have learned a couple of things these past few days. One, how much I hate the cold weather, and two how much I appreiate the Florida weather, Although it has been chilly in Bradenton, after a couple of days it goes away. I just do not know how you guys make it there in Quincy or New England, but if I were young it would be fine. I am not young, I am old and it is cold and that sucks. I wish all of you a blessed New Year.and know that you had a very wonderful Christmas. What I find as sad is that in this time I am not able to express my true feelings for my family and those of you I feel admiration for because of our convictions. It was never this way when we grew up and I can only see and remember those times when we all saw ourselves simply as people and friends who loved one another in the simplicity of our time. I often wonder if we could ever express our fondness and admiration in who we are simply being ourselves as a yonger generation trying to find a better tomorrow, for all of us to share. If we remember when we were young, we all laughed together, we need to do that again because in every truth it is who we are.We need to remember that, have a blessed New Year!

Anne and I just got home from sunny Florida, where we spent the month of January bouncing around. We used Marco Island as our base for the first 2 weeks. During our stay we took the Marco Island Express ferry to Key West for a couple of days to meet up with an old classmate, Mike Haskins! (Mike was "Mickey" back in high school).  Mike got to KW sometime in the '90s and never left. He is a successful author, writing around 11 or 12 books (the Mick Murphy series of adventures) primarily based in KW. I've now read 3 of his books and they're a lot of fun! I enjoy recognizing all the streets and haunts Murphy frequents (Schooner Wharf, Smokin' Tuna, Sloppy Joe's, etc.), and the lack of profanity.  It was really great to catch up with Mike over a few Guinness and reminisce about life at North in the 60s, some of our teachers, and life after North. We hadn't seen each other since at least 1964!

We then went over to the east coast to meet up with our dear friends, Don and Paula McNally, who winter in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. And of course when we're with Don & Paula we always find time for a round of golf! We played the beautiful Jacaranda west course, where Anne won $10 from Don for hitting her tee shot on the par 3 16th over the water! 😂😂  Don HATES losing a bet!

What a great way to spend January!!

2022 was a great year for travel for both me and my son ,Marco ( 22 years old and 7 inches taller than me). We traveked to South Africa and visited Capetown (a very beautiful city with a very diverse population) and we  also went on a Safari (a dream I developed from a Geography class at NQHS). Many people say a Safari is a once in a lifetime experance,It is a multI visit enxperience.

We traveled to Argentina and  Antarctica in late December. Buenos Aires, the capitol is often called the Paris of Latin America, is a beautiful old city that resembles Paris, It has great food, wine and the tango. We tried all 3, I am an even worse dancer than in was at NQHS.

Antarctica was incredible. The wildlife - penguins, seals, dolphins, orcas, and whales were abundant. We had an opportunity to sleep overnight on the continent and go kayaking close to icebergs. We did pass on the Polar Plunge- the water was much colder than Wollaston Beach ! If you are looking for a life altering experience take a trip to Antarctica.

We have finished one of our bucket list items - visiting all 7 continents and we are now planing to visit all 50 states.- 8 more to go.

I owe a lot to one of my teachers at NQHS, Elizabeth Savage,  who taught Global Geography, she kindled the flame of my love of travel

Tom, is was great seeing you and Anne after all these years! I see from the TV news Boston welcomed you home with a wonderful New England winter chill! I won't tell you our weather has been  in the 80s and sunny because that would be unkind. I must thank you for leaving the tab onpen at Schooner Wharf Bar. Or did Anne do that? I won't abuse it but there are a group of about 8 that want to send you thank you cards! Hope you do visit again next year! With your stay-at-home weather I expect you will be reading more of my books! Send me the list of what you have and an address  and I will mail you a full set! I can add some cussing in the book I am working on now, if you think it will help sales! Or maybe you can get it banned in Boston, I heard back in the day that used to do wonders for book sales!

Keep warm and thank you for not taking the weather home with you!

Mike

Frank, it was wonderful to read about your trips, so lucky to share your journey with your son. I have a friend Barbara who went with her daughter to Antarctica in December as well. She said it was  beautiful and breath taking. Good luck with your future states travel.
