I too am sorry to know that Steve has passed away.  Steve and I dated in high school and he was my senior prom date.  Despite him having mono at the time!   The highlight of our dating life was attending a Roy Orbison concert at the Surf in Nantasket!  I was happy to read that Steve became a faithful husband, a loving and appreciated father and grandfather.  Great things to be said about any person.

Hi,

In case you missed this:

Americans can now order another round of four free COVID-19 tests for this season, the U.S. Postal Service announced Monday, as health officials have been preparing for an expected resurgence in the virus over the coming weeks.

The four additional tests will ship for free starting the week of Nov. 27, the USPS says.

The tests can be ordered online at covid.gov/tests or through the postal service's webpage — the same as the previous round of free tests offered in September.

Households that did not order their first batch of four free tests after ordering reopened earlier this fall will be able to place two orders from the USPS, for a total of eight free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests.

It's quick and easy.  Pass it on to your family.

Diane

Another Christmas gathering at Paula's home in the books.  It was a wonderful day with this fantastic group of women who never Age!!!!!  (We are all still driving to our destinations and that is a good thing.  Ginny wins for the longest drive as she came to Wilmington from New Hampshire and then on the Paula's!!)

To all of our male classmates from 1964:

A week from today on December 12 at 1:30PM, some of your fellow classmates will be gathering at Alba in Quincy Square for our annual Holiday Luncheon and you are very welcome to join us!  I'm sure we will begin with beverages of choice, followed by towers of fresh seafood full of oysters and shrimp. We will then dig into lots of Caesar salad, sliced sirloin steak and mashed potatoes galore!

So if you're back here for the holidays or just looking for something to do next week, why not join 20 or so of your old North classmates of 1964!  Just send me a note (tjb0496@gmail.com) that you're coming and bring $70 cash for the lunch. It's always a great time!!

Tom Burns

No political messages!!!

Diane T Mulcahy (Malmgren)

Yes, Jerry, it was a political message, and the one you just posted was, too.  Although I, and most classmates may agree with you, that’s not what the Message Forum is for.

In general, politics can be defined as the process of making decisions that affect individuals or groups of people, such as the distribution of resources.

Political messages are those associated with how a city, state or country is governed.

Political Messages can cause responses with heated political statements and debate among individuals that make it uncomfortable and unpleasant

Our site was not designed as an opinion poll.  It detracts from the purpose of our site:  to give classmates an opportunity to reconnect, reestablish old friendships and share and celebrate the memories of our time together and lives today.

As the administrator of this site, it is my responsibility to determine which messages are appropriate and can be posted.  Any I deem inappropriate will be immediately removed.

Further political posts may result in revocation of site membership.

Thank you Diane, your efforts are appreciated. As my dear Mother used to say, "when I want your opinion I'll ask for it".  I hope everyone has a great Holiday!

Diane, thank you! You are absolutely correct to remove the political messages as they can get out of control and don't encourage friendship among the classmates. I greatly appreciate your webmaster work! Ginny

On December 12th the men of North Quincy Class of 1964 got together for our annual Holiday Lucheon at Alba in Quincy Square.  It was a diverse and great group and we had a lot of laughs, dined on some great food, and enjoyed some delicious libation.  As is the custom, we all gathered for group photo.  My apologies to Tom Kiley for allowing him to escape back to work before our big photo-op.

So here is this year's gang (starting at the top):

Dennis Volpe, Ed Marchant, Joe Boyd, George Clarke, Peter Murphy, Joe Gildea, George Gale, Marty Butler, Mickey Gillis, Nick Rucky, John Bonner, Don McNally, Gary DeCoste, Tom Burns, Wally Young, and Ed Leahy.

We're all looking forward to our next gathering in early June!

Hey Diane: A response to your recent message on the use of this website and it's importance. I for one love to keep an eye on messages, events and your wonderful ongoing articles and commentories. This has got to be one of the best High School Class websites anywhere and all of us owe you a huge debt of gratitude for the effort you expend daily keeping this up and going. I'd be happy to help to keep this going financially when it's expiration comes due in a few years...and once again, a simple but hugely sincere THANK YOU for all that you have done and are still doing.    Frank Stewart

I think it is awesome to see the all you guys on the steps, but does anyone know the origins of the 12th man? For that you need to go to Texas A&M because that is where it originated and the fact that it is so important in our every day lives. We all need a Twelth Man concept in our lives.

Today we gathered for our 60th Reunion at the Winery in Boston.  It was a beautiful venue.  The food was varied and excellent.  The staff at the Winery was wonderful and attentive.  It was great to see our classmates, some coming for the first time, some who had not come in a while, some from other classes, and some coming from as far as California (Jack D'Angelo).  Paula Kelly Mazzone and Diane Mulchey Malmgren did a wonderful job putting this together along with the rest of the committee.  You could definitely tell the special touches that Paula put in, right down to giving the six couples who married a '64 classmate a gift of heart shaped candy, and a ticket for tonight's game with special numbers for each couple.  She put her heart and soul into this day.  Attached is the group picture that I took.  If anyone else has pictures from their phones and would like to share them, please send to me at sandyvolpe@comcast.net and I will put a show together to share with everyone.  Where did the time go.....  Let's all make each day count!!!!

Phenomenal 60th!!
Fantastic to reconnect with classmates, it was a joyous and fun reunion. Special thanks to Paula, for skillfully organizing and pulling off a terrific event, also thanks to Diane for her web mastering and hosting as well as to my girlfriends on the reunion committee. (Ellen and Jeanne, helped me drive to NH by following you on 93 north through the scary tunnels and bridges, big hugs for that!)

Sandy, always appreciative of your posted photos, and thanks for the class of 64 Bookmarks.

Thanks again to everyone who showed up and shared our 60+ years, yay! Ginny πŸ€—

If anyone wants an original, high resolution version of the group picture. send me your email address and I will send it to you. That way you can zoom in and identify each person. Every single person is smiling. When does that happen!!  Thanks to high technology I had the remote in my hand and took a bunch and caught that special picture. You are all stars!!!  Happy Fourth of July.....πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Thanks to the reunion committee for their tireless efforts to make our 60th happen and those that made our 60th reunion possible!!  It was a very enjoyable get together that enabled us to connect with classmates with whom we've lost touch over the many years since graduation.   Thank You!

Our sincere congratulations to the reunion committee, and in particular, Paula Kelly(Mazzone) and Diane Mulcahey(Malmgren) for a teriffic 60TH REUNION!!  Anne and I had a great time!  The Boston Winery was a wonderful venue, the food, catered by Venezia, was delicious and plentiful, and the decorations and pictures, along with Manets, brought back lots of fun memories!  As you can see from Sandy's pictures, there was a great turnout.

As a result of the reunion a number of new faces showed up and expressed interest in joining the "guys" at our next get-together.  That would be great!  The more the merrier!

For any of our classmates that are interested in attending our luncheons (the next one will be the 2nd week of December at Alba in Quincy), just drop me a note with your best email address and I will put you on the distribution list.  My email address is:  tjb0496@gmail.com.  This will ensure you get the notifications; you are not making a solemn committment.

Thanks again!, for a great  60TH REUNION!

What a great event! The reunion committee did an outstanding job with the planning and the venue. Although my wife and I had a short stay in this beautiful city (4 days), I do miss the cooler weather and the reminiscing about growing up in Quincy.
So, everyone stay healthy, keep up with the exercising, and let's do another one in 5!
