Thomas Ralph Brogdon - Class Of 1940

In an email received from Sandra Brogdon Rinks on January 26, 2015 she sent the following obit:

   


Thomas R. Brogdon was born on October 8, 1922 near Quitman, Texas. He went home to be with his Lord on Thursday January 22, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Brogdon; his wife Wanda of 63 years, six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his loving daughter Deborah Brogdon as well as many family members.
Tom grew up on the family farm near Quitman, Texas, attended a rural school and eventually graduated from Quitman High School in 1940. He was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Army, assigned to the 327 Field Artillery Battalion 84th Infantry Division serving in France, Belgium and Germany. Tom fought against Hitler’s major German offensive known as the Battle of the Bulge toward the end of war in Europe. 
Upon returning home from the war, Tom met the love of his life Wanda Howard they were married on December 21, 1946. A short time later, Tom enrolled in NTA College in Arlington, where he finished two years of study. He transferred to Texas A&M in 1948 and graduated from Texas A&M in 1950 with a B. S. in Animal Husbandry. 
Tom served as a Management Agronomist with the Soil Conservation Service USDA until 1959. After a year of self-employment, he was employed with the Ft. Worth District Corps of Engineers in 1960 retiring in 1986. Tom was a loving husband and father. 
Tom loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Rodgers Baptist Church. Services will be at the Rodgers Baptist Church, 801 W. Buckingham, Garland, Texas 75040 on Monday morning. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. Services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rodgers Baptist Church.
