Preston Roberts - Class Of 1941

Funeral services for J. Preston Roberts, 89, Quitman, were held on Monday, January 30, 2012  at Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman with Reverand Heath Mitchell and Brother Fred Morrow officiating..

Burial was held at the Quitman City Cemetery.

He was born on July 9, 1922 and passed away on January 26, 2012.

He lived in Wood County his entire life and was an active member of the Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.  Throughout his life he explored many different career options; he was a cattle rancher, banker and a barber.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Elbert and Lola Roberts; five brothers: Sidney Roberts, Courtney Roberts, T. J. Roberts, Elbert Ray Roberts and Lynn Voy Roberts; and one sister: Dottie Roberts.

Survivors include wife of 64 years, Vivian L. Roberts, Quitman; sisters, Madille Vaughn, Kaufman, and Lola Fay Baker, Quitman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mike Ziegler, Brandon Roberts, Billy Rushing, Brian Roberts, Bill Jeffrey and Kyle Hayes, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Myrtle Springs Men's Sunday School Class, Tommy Vaughn, Jimmy Coleman, Scott McCune, Chris Swanner, Glen Bohn, Tony McCollum, Danny Baker, Tim Baker and Hugh Speer.
