Oneita Pool (Buckingham) - Class Of 1946

Lillian Oneita Buckingham (Big Mama) moved into her mansion after a brief but brave battle with cancer on September 8, 2013.  She was born in Emory, Texas and graduated from Quitman High School.  She worked as a telephone operator and later as a sales associate for Foley's for over 50 years, retiring in 2012.  She will be remembered for her love of traveling, visiting with friends and family and her passion for butterflies.  She always found a way to help others.  She didn't have it in her to say no if someone needed something.  Throught her life she made a small deposit of love, kindness, friendship and hope to everyone she met.  She was a member of Queens Road Baptist Church, Pasadena Texas, where she served faithfully.

She leaves behind 3 daughters and sons-in-laws; Sandy Livingston and Ronnie, Mona Nebel and Kurt, Rebecca Havard and Larry, 10 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, 1 brother, James McDaniel, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her bright smile and warm hugs.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home.  Interment followed in Grand View Memorial Park.
