Lee Edward Williams - Class Of 1951

Funeral services for former Wood County Judge Lee Williams, 78, were held Saturday at Hainesville Baptist Church.   Burial was in Concord Cemetery.

Judge Williams died November 16, 2011, at his residence.

He was born September 23, 1933, in the Hainesville community, Wood County.  He was a member, deacon and trustee of Hainesville Baptist Chyurch.  He retired from the Air Force after serving 20 years from 1955 to 1975 and was also retired as Wood County judge.  He was a graduate of Quitman High School class of 1951, and Texas A&M University in 1955 with a BA in agricultural education.  He was in the Corps of Cadets and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USAF on graduation.   While in the Air force, he served as a jet pilot, flying 270 missions in the Viet Nam war.  He was a charter member and chaplin of Wood County Camp of The Gideons International; and long time member and past president of Quitman Rotary Club.
