Mary Lena Griffin (Woody) passed away June 13, 2016 at her home in Vernon and was laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.  She was born January 6, 1935.  She graduated from Quitman High School in 1952 as the salutatorian.

Mary was a career teacher and taught first grade for 29 years in the Gainesville area.  She touched many lives for the good.  Her father, Floyd C. Griffin, was the assistant manager/bookkeeper for the REA until his retirement and her step-mother, Mary Elizabeth Berry Griffin, also taught first and second grades in the Quitman Elementary School after she married Mary's father.

Mary is survived by a son, Tom and a daughter Lois, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
