BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services to honor the life of Mr. James O. Goolsby, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. David McCormick of Heritage Missionary Baptist Church and Chaplain Bill Walsworth of the Bossier Parish Sheriff Dept. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Goolsby was born on March 29, 1936, in Dallas, TX and passed away on Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013. He grew up in Quitman, TX and at the age of 18 joined the U.S. Air Force. Following time in Korea and Germany, he served in South Carolina, Florida and Texas and in 1980 retired while at Barksdale Air Force Base. After leaving the military he worked at various other occupations including Bonded Warehouses of Monroe and working for the government as a civil service employee. Mr. Goolsby was also a volunteer with the Bossier Parish Sheriff Dept. Posse and felt a great sense of pride representing District 6 and 7 of South Bossier. He also devoted time as a volunteer with "Operation Blessing".

Mr. Goolsby was preceded in death by his parents, Orvel and Iris (Blackwell) Goolsby; and his brother, Jack Goolsby. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Letha (Mitchell) Goolsby; sister, Ms. Lucy Carr; nephews, Jeff Goolsby and Greg Carr; niece, Susan Carr Witt; other family members and numerous friends who loved him dearly.

Honoring Mr. Goolsby as pallbearers will be the Bossier Parish Sheriff Dept. Posse.

Mrs. Goolsby wishes to extend a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been so supportive during this difficult time; including the "Hollyhock Bunch", her church family at Heritage Missionary Baptist Church, and all of the doctors and nurses who have cared for Mr. Goolsby.
