(April 22, 1940 - February 21, 2017)

 

Funeral service for Glenda Lloyd, 76, of Tyler, is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home with Brother Fred Morrow officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Coke.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday evening, February 24th at the funeral home.

Glenda Jean Lloyd was born in Tyler on April 22, 1940 to Robert Arvel Olson and Gracie Pearl (Stamps) Olson.  She was a Tyler resident for 20 years, moving from Quitman.  She graduated from Quitman High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Bruce Lindley Lloyd on January 5, 1958.  Glenda started work as a teller for Entex gas company in 1972 and retired as a regional manager.  After retirement she worked for five years as general manager of Hollytree Storage in Tyler.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church in Quitman.  Glenda loved to travel, work in her flower beds, play games with family and friends, but her greatest love was for her family.  Her favorite color was purple and in her honor, her family will be wearing purple Saturday.

Glenda went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, February 21, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce Lindley Lloyd on October 31, 1971; and one son, Leslie Don Lloyd in 1969.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Robert Lloyd of Tyler; two daughters, Laura Blackburn and husband James of Flint and Linda Lee and husband Kyle of Quitman; brother, Roy “Butch” Olson of Dallas; sister, Mary Camp and husband Sammy of Lindale; five grandchildren, Stacy Hightower and husband Chris, Christopher Carns and wife Jessica, Katie Skinner and husband Matthew, Samantha Voigt and husband Alex, and Travis Blackburn; and seven great grandchildren, Reese Hightower, Nathan Skinner, Hudson Carns, Luke Skinner, Rozlynn Hightower, Campbell Carns, and Ridley Voigt.

Serving as pallbearers is Christopher Carns, Travis Blackburn, Chris Hightower, Matthew Skinner, Alex Voigt, and David Cranford.

Honorary Pallbearer is Roy “Butch” Olson.
